argh

phone from nurse with ds2s preliminary results showthat although ds2s oxygen saturation dipped several times cauding him to wake it is not severe enoughto warrant adenoid surgery. consultant getting back to me wirh final details.

me - fibromyalgia. referal to rheumatologist
doc said the current theory is that it is caused by at least in part by abnormal sleep patterns

#apologies and typing

sorry to hear about it all

what did they say about ds2's sleep overall?

popsycal · 02/11/2007 12:42

Basically he woke lots. Several of the wakings coincided with lower oxygen saturation (which is what happens with sleep apnoea and enlarged adenoids/tonsils) but the levels weren't low enough to suggest too much obstruction so the risks of surgery would probably not outweigh the benefit IYSWIM

Arse. My dh has fibromyalgia and sleep apnoea, it's utter shite but a whole hell of a lot better than ds having either. I'm sure your symptoms are being exacerbated by the lack of sleep, is there anything you can do? Dh/p?

Referral to rheumatology is sadly unlikely to be any use whatsoever, can you find out if there is a fibromyalgia support group near you? This is much more likely to be what you need. I don't think you're in Leeds, but if you are, there is a rheumatologist you must avoid like the plague, let me know.

So sorry to hear of your twin diagnoses, complete bloody nightmare.

oh popsycal, so sorry to hear this. What a mare!

I am in the north east tripbot - but more north of leeds.

RE ds2 - they did not say whether the sleep is behavioural - but that is something I will be asking consultant when he rings next week. Sounds like it is at least in part medical but not bad enough to warrant any medical intervention iyswim.

At half term, my MIL had both boys for 3 nights and I slept the whole time even though it was meant to be DH and I's 10 year romantic getaway....and my mum also had them for a night. I felt great after the 3 nights away. But after a few more days, I felt bad again. Then ds2 got croup.

Co-sleeping. Unintentional co-sleeping. DS2 creeps in and I am too knackered to get him out. He is sooo restless that I get little sleep. Viscious circle.

It may be time to Get Tough now we know that nothing medical is going to be done.

My friend has fibromyalgia, all her joints hurt and she is knackered most of the time. She does try to help herself by watching her diet, some things aggrivate the fibro. She gets quite depressed because she feels so ill so that doesn't help.

Don't think i'm being that helpful but just to know there are sufferers out there who recognise how it impacts on their lives and friends and family too.
Good luck.

I am considering taking some information into work with me for my boss

Fibro's a bugger -I had a mahoosive flare up after a MC earlier this year (Gp thought the hormonal crash is what brought it on)literally could not bear fro anyone to touch me on my arms, shoulders and neck and was hobbling around like a little old lady.Rheumatologist was bugger all use - aprt from he finally wrote a diagnosis of hypermobility , plus the fibro on my notes, so after 28 years of 'growing pains' i can get something done once DC4 arrives
