Hello,

Am on a high calorie meal plan to gain weight and I am stinking out the bedroom every night. Blush I wake in the morning and the smell is lingering in the room. It's disgusting. I haven't noticed I'm excessively farting during the day but obviously am in my sleep.

I don't think it's so much what I'm eating, more that I'm eating far greater quantities than I'm used to, but it's important I stick to this to gain the weight back lost after a long term illness.

Are there any otc medications/ supplements that might help? I hoped it would settle down but am 2 weeks in and it seems to be getting worse. Dh is getting fed up, he doesn't say much but it is really an awful smell, and I'm getting embarrassed.

What are you eating? Higher levels of protein? Beans? Eggs? Carbs? Odour can come from sweating, it doesn't necessarily come from flatulence.

If you have changed your diet recently, you digestive system should adapt and settle down quite quickly. Give it a while.

Sleep in the spare room for a couple of weeks?

Stewed apple can help.

This video is from an Australian specialist talking about the chemistry of eating disorders. It's a long video but she goes into a lot of detail about how gut health impacts absorption of chemicals.

There's no spare room and not really anywhere else to sleep.

I have been drinking protein shakes, make my own with lactofree milk. I have been eating peanut butter on toast, walnuts, and meat/fish with potatoes and veg type meals. Cheese sandwiches and ham sandwiches. Those are the main things.

I'll give stewed apple a try, thank you.

And thanks for the video, it's long but I'm watching! My long term illness was an ED so this video might be particularly useful. I don't know why I was embarrassed to say so in my op.
