My ds (3) as been generally unwell for a couple of days (sunday & monday) with a temperature and a cough he went back to nursery yesterday still running on the warm side but was fine in himself, he's today whilst at nursery developed a rash around his mouth and on his right cheek and it looks like it might also be coming on his left cheek. Not sure what it could be??

Can anyone help and do I need to go and get it checked out??

I have just read about that but it sounds more like you'd have a genrally red face where has his is deffinately red and spotty??

It can come out looking like red patches.

Look at roseola too.

Tbh, it's almost impossible to tell. I had to take dd to the doctor today for a similar sounding rash (as the school wanted me to get it checked out) and the doctor said it's very hard to tell, especially if they are not unwell any more because a lot of these viruses, they get ill and the rash comes out as they are starting to get better!

That's my problem to I had to go and collect him from Nursery for the same reasons but due to the difficulty of getting to see a doctor and work commitments not sure whether I should just leave it and see or take him to the walk in centre??

oh janbo, I feel your pain! I got called back from work on Wednesday.

Tbh, if you need to work tomorrow and you're thinking of sending him in to nursery, I think you'll have to see a doctor otherwise they'll turn you away again (may be you could get an appointment in the morning?).

Doc told me that if dd's rash was slapped cheek that once the rash comes out they are no longer contagious.

It's just that time of year when all these things go round.

you're so right I think I might ring NHS direct for advice do you think that would do any good?? and if need be pop him down to walk in centre??

I would just call the doc and get an appointment in the morning or if you're worried, you could go to the walk in. Your doctor's surgery may still be open?

yeah think i will just go in the morning, he's absolutely fine at the moment he's eating his tea and we have just been playing.

Just typed my last message and my ds just shouted to say his mouth is very sore!! so now think i might be best to take him because he doesn't want to eat anything
