I have 2 dentist appointments for a tooth that is dieing, the first appointment is for a scale and root canal on said tooth, this appointment is 45 minutes long. The second appointment is only for 15 minutes, I assume this is to put on the vaneeer, as he said he will put one on, but not sure as its only 15 minutes, is it done that quickly?

My root canal took more than one appointnment . firstt one was the longer , to drill it out, clean and insert some slow release antiseptic with temporary filling. Then couple of weeks later that was taken out , another internal clean and permanent filling put on.

hmmm sounds delightful

Yes.

do yiu mean, yes it only takes 15 minutes? or yes root canals are delightful?

I would generally do the root canal treament in 2 appointmets to be sure it is sucessful. If you have problems later on it is hard to get back into the tooth. The tooth will be prepared for the veneer at the first appointment and an impression takes, plus shade selected. Then at the 2nd appointment he will check it fits and literally glue it onto the tooth.

Thanks I am currently begging my dentist to refer me to a consultant for jaw surgery, he is trying to put me off, lol, but I am adament, he said to see how I feel after the vaneer is put on, if I still want jaw surgery then he will refer me.

CovenOVeneer · 01/11/2007 16:32

Just being nosey, but why do you want surgery?

totallyhatefireworks · 01/11/2007 16:42

I have an overbite, and I cant naturally close my mouth, if I hold my mouth shut my chin crinkles up, I also get jaw pain, some days I cant open my mouth far (is that lockjaw?) and I just dont like the way it looks.

Jaw surgery is major and pretty painful, I wouldn't enter into it lightly. But can have fantastic results. Fingers crossed for you whatever you decide.

I know, I have looked into it quite alot, and the pain and liquid diet I could live with, could lose a few pounds at the same time

thanks

What about orthodontia? I had an overbite (with TMJ) that was fixed by having braces.

totallyhatefireworks · 01/11/2007 17:52

I have had braces, it did some good, but the overbite is still there, and only jaw surgery will enable me to close my mouth and stop my chin wrinkling up.
