@MichelleScarn you certainly will! It’s fabulous. Every medical professional I have discussed my dry eyes with has recommended it!

I can also recommend a product called VisuXL. It's fairly pricey but helps restore the tear film over time.

@Eloisedublin123: Yes, that dose of Omega 3 is around the same as I take. It's about 1400-1500 mg a day. I think the one I have is also combined with 12mg of Vitamin E too.

Hi, another item to try is hyaluronic acid in tablet format. USA dry eye doctors have found it supports the body to create tear film. Imbalanced hormones also may be an underlying root cause. I believe working in an air con office for 20 years didn't help. I had to stop wearing contact lenses as my left eye felt bruised and as if someone punched it severely. Opthalmologist recommended hot pack as meiobiam glands were blocked.
Tea tree lid scrub wipes, including using a cotton bud around the water line upper and lower lashes, hycosan ultra as many times as required to obtain relief and other carbon gels. After a year has become more manageable but truly noticing a big difference when taking 300mg hyaluronic acid twice a day. Sometimes also drinking rehydration drinks especially if on a long haul flight or even just at home helps a lot too.
A keep cool sports cloth is another tip for when dryness feels all hot, can place on the eyes to help headaches

I suffer from recurrent corneal erosions and have to really watch that my eyes don’t dry out to avoid trouble with them.
My routine is to use a heat mask on my eyes in the morning, Visidic drops during the day mask again at bedtime and then apply HyloNight (was VitaPos) gel at night. If I skip the mask the drops clog up my eyelids and create other problems.
I can wear moisturiser on my face but keep it away from my eyes. I haven’t found a foundation that doesn’t creep into my eyes and irritate them.

ScarletORyan · 20/02/2021 21:51

I have developed a severely dry left eye with blocked glands. The drops and gel optician has given me are not doing a lot (Thealoz). Have just bought the heat pad and am waiting for an appointment with corneal specialist. Did any of you have severely blurred vision all the time which isn't improved by drops/gel?

Jackie2022 · 20/02/2021 22:00

@ScarletORyan hi, last month my eyes suddenly became very dry to the extent that my vision was blurring and blinking alone wasn’t enough to completely clear it. I was struggling to read from a distance and optician wondered if I needed glasses!

He said I had Meibomian gland dysfunction and he also asked if I had used any new products n the area. Turns out a new eye cream triggered the sudden worsening of my dry eye condition. Ceasing use of that took my sight back to normal.

He also recommended the eye mask, night ointment, ceasing screen usage, less makeup, good sleeping habits etc

ScarletORyan · 20/02/2021 22:26

Thanks. I'm not using a new eye cream. I definitely could get more sleep and probably use screens too much. Will use the gel and drops, and the eye pads. My vision is so bad in that eye though, I'm wondering if my eye is becoming lazy

Xailin night. Had epithelium removed a few years ago due to a condition made worse by dry eye. It grew back but is the most painful thing I’ve ever experienced and hopefully will never need again.

coronafiona · 20/02/2021 22:41

Thealoz Duo gel, from the Dr. Brilliant stuff

Jackie2022 · 20/02/2021 22:46

@ScarletORyan worst case scenario, ask your GP for a dry eye clinic referral (ophthalmology) as X treatments haven’t helped and your vision is worsening. Hospitals have a few different things they can try out such as punctal plugs or even surgery if necessary

ScarletORyan · 20/02/2021 23:12

Thank you - referral is in progress to ophthalmology. Just really hoping my right eye doesn't get so bad as then I couldn't see to drive or work!

Amammi · 21/02/2021 14:00

Mind yourself Susan. Your balance and depth perception can be affected also when your eyes are a bit wonky so take it easy up and down steps etc until you are seen by the specialists.

Amammi · 21/02/2021 14:00

Sorry not Susan, Scarlett!

ScarletORyan · 21/02/2021 16:18

Thank you I will 😊
