10 year old girl with sharp lower abdomen pain

My 10 year old DD started complaining of a belly ache at bedtime. It’s sharp constant pain in the lower left abdomen. It sounds like it could be trapped wind, but she’s in quite a lot of pain. Will call 111 but does anyone have any similar experience?

I hope everything is ok.

I would pack a small bag for you and her just in case. My DD once had terrible pains, she couldn't get to sleep and so disturbed; it got to 4am and I took her in. Suspected appendicitis which was my thought on symptoms. Ultrasound wasn't conclusive and kept in overnight with antibiotic drip. Thankfully worked so they changed diagnosis to something called Mesenteric adenitis - swollen (inflamed) lymph glands in the tummy (abdomen), which causes tummy pain. Common in children apparently.

She’s finally fallen asleep in my bed. Let’s see how things develop

Don't let them fob you off. My friends daughter was told she was fine and it was period pains, until her appendix ruptured and she was rushed to hospital. Don't want to scare you but don't let them play it down.

I would not be waiting to get her seen.

Thank you all again, update: at about 1:15 she feel asleep in my bed. As I nodded off myself 111 called back, by which time I woke he and she was feeling much better. I think relaxing and falling asleep meant trapped wind was released. Dr. Suggested I give her paracetamol, but no need to go to hospital. Great relief all round, and happy that my instinct was right. It freaked me out however, that she’s generally a really hardy girl that never complains of being unwell, and she was in obvious and persistent pain.
