Alternartive hot drinks to coffee?

Hi i'm pregnant in my second trimester. In my first trimester I had coffee, one cup a day as I get quite bad caffiene withdrawal and didnt want to be even more sick or de-energised. I am a massive coffee lover and have started having them weaker and weaker as my pregnancy progressed but they barely taste nice anymore. also if im going out with my partner to a coffee drive thru i always struggle with an alternative and hav ended up getting a decaf but Iv heard decaf is quite bad? Can someone give me some similar alternatives? Im struggling to find something thatl give me that nice feeling like coffee did. I really miss it! Thanks.

Is there any reason you can't have a coffee?
As far as I knew the last guidance was you could have 1 or 2 cups a day?

I drank coffee all the way through pregnancy.

I always had loads of mint and fruit teas when pregnant. The Lidl blackcurrant and liquorice is nice. Morrison’s winter spiced fruit tea is delicious.

I drank redbush (rooibos) all through my pregnancies.

Herbal tisanes like nettle or peppermint - some people like camomile as well.

None of this will help you in a drive-through, though! Perhaps you could start taking your own instead?

Decaf it depends on how it's done - I had a friend years ago who was allergic to decaf because of the chemicals used, but the Swiss-Water-Decaffeinated is produced differently.

I had coffee once a day when I was pregnant and I don't remember it being against the guidelines if in moderation. Also, I can't think about a reason decaf would hurt the baby.
For alternatives I'd say herbal teas or hot chocolate?

Yes to hot chocolate, and the Lidl peppermint and liquorice. I've also tried the Tea pigs version, and couldn't tell the difference tbh.

A good quality decaf is fine, get ground decaf for a cafeteria - it's lovely

(Or hot chocolate or hot vimto)

I drink normal coffee and decaff. If you buy decent quality coffee (not instant), the decaff is perfectly acceptable. I make mine in a cafetiere.

Why is decaf bad?

I’m a herbal tea or hot chocolate fan (chocolate and fizzy juice have caffeine in them too, if that’s your concern)

I’m in my third trimester and having one cup of coffee a day (guidance is up to two a day).

To reduce the amount of coffee I have a smaller coffee at my usual strength, rather than having a really weak normal sized one.

I can't tolerate caffeine, I drink whole bean decaffinated (I buy online as supermarket selection is poor) or red bush tea.

Chai? I’ve got some chai teabags as a quick option - I make 2/3 of a mug of chai with teabag and boiling water, and heat up a bit of milk in the microwave, and once the tea is brewed I add the hot milk. It’s pretty nice, and feels like a good alternative to a latte. I am sure I could make it in a much better way, but this is quick and easy.

I don’t know what’s on offer at the coffee drive throughs but a few independent coffee shops near me do turmeric lattes which are very nice and kind of healthy!

I agree with other poster. Like you I love coffee and would struggle to give it up altogether. Have you allotted amount of caffeinated and then switch to decaf. A good decaf coffee is lovely.

I don't drink instant coffee as I don't like the taste so I have ground coffee which is stronger mg of caffeine which has been a struggle to give up.
I have ordered a variety of decaf ones online as supermarket options are limited and they're not that bad.
I've not heard anything bad about drinking decaf coffee and it will take you a while to adjust to less caffeine but as the recommended is no more than 200mg a day when pregnant it's the best option for me as I do love a bit of chocolate aswell
