Very painful haemorrhoids (pregnant)

I have the most painful haemorrhoids I've ever had. I'm 29 weeks pregnant and they appeared out of nowhere yesterday (no constipation).

The pain is really, really bad. Is it normal to be on so much pain? I've had them before but they've never been so painful. I bought the germaloids cream yesterday, the one that has lidocaine in it. The pain kept waking me up last night.

I would get in touch with your midwife and or gp! I got them this pregnancy too, they can be so painful but very treatable. Sitz baths are great and the ring cushion if you are in a bad way. That spritz for bits is very good too. And also the ice packs for your pants that people use after the birth work well in pregnancy for piles too! The gp can prescribe a better cream I think than what you get over the counter. It’s horrific you have my sympathy! I hope you can get some relief!!! If it’s anything I was bad first pregnancy too and they did go after so I’m not too worried this time but am also uncomfortable!

Thanks. I already have a ice pack, ring cushion and prescribed cream, as I've had them before. But they've never been so huge and so painful. Rather than the prescribed cream, I've been using germaloids as it has lidocaine in it.

I spoke to an out of hours gp over the weekend, and she said I could use over the counter cocodamol. I started using that bit it's made me feel really sick and sleepy. Urgh.

If you do use the cocodamol be aware it's likely to cause constipation which makes things worse. I wonder if you've got thrombosed piles as yours are so painful. Has your G.P actually examined you and what cream have you been prescribed? I was given Scheriproct ointment which contains a strong anti inflammatory when l had a massive thrombosed pile and it really did help.

Oops, sorry, Re my previous post it was Xyloproct that l had prescribed, not Scheriproct.
