Horrible feeling at night

I keep walking up at night with the most awful, horrible sensations. It's really hard to describe because I'm asleep then it starts to happen but I'm not fully conscious enough to explain it, then it starts to ebb away.

The closest I can get is a deep burning sensation in the back of my throat, chest and heart but also in my brain. It sort of washes over me then I wake in a panic with sort of pins and needles sensations and my heart starts to race.

Has anyone had anything like this?

I recently posted worried about daytime symptoms of muscle twitching, pins and needles and brain fog but I never get this sensation in the day. I'm worried about MS and GP is doing blood tests but says it's probably stress/anxiety.

I'm lying awake now exhausted as I e barely had more than 4 hours sleep a night in the last week and I'm frightened to drop off in case it happens again. What could it be? Sad

@polkadotpixie a few people mentioned B12 on the other thread I started about the day time issues. It seems quite a common theme although I've been taking folic acid for so long due to ttc since August. 2mc though... does blood loss affect if I wonder? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Folic acid is vitamin B9 not B12 so I'm not sure that taking Folic acid would be helpful if you're B12 deficient (although obviously you need it anyway if you're TTC)...might be worth asking your GP to check your levels for both regardless? Maybe also Ferritin and vitamin D whilst they're at it

I've been having a lot of your symptoms and the night time panic attacks as well more recently. I think for me it is hormone related as I had a baby last spring and anxiety making me hyper aware of every little bodily sensation. I also have recently been diagnosed with underactive thyroid though my levels are fine with that apparently and my B12 is in the normal range.
I'm going to take evening primrose and starflower oil to help with hormones and a B vitamin complex to see if they make a difference. And I'm trying not to worry about it all Smile

I'm hopefully getting the results of what she tested for tomorrow @polkadotpixie so if those you suggest are missing I'll ask if she can add those. Thank you so much. I'm really tired as DD was up at 5:30 this morning but not looking forward to bed in case it happens again 😞

@GentlyGentlyOhDear thank you so much for replying. I'm definitely hyper aware of every little thing at the moment and wonder if everything I've read is making me imagine things.

So are you getting the exact same thing?! It's an awful feeling, like deep sense of doom and a fizzy burning feeling in my chest and throat. I wake up with it and just think 'there's something wrong with me'.

It's interesting what you say about thyroid because that carries a lot of the same symptoms and would make sense with the recent miscarriages I've had - two in 5 months. Or hormones? I suppose it all takes quite a toll on the body?

I would say stomach related too, reflux or even gall bladder problems. I had similar and they found gall stones! Could also be related to low blood sugar.
