Eye question 👁

ARe there any ophthalmologist or optometrists that can answer a quick question.

MY family member has double vision and was fitted with prisms on their glasses. Should the prisms be fitted on good eye or the poor eye?

Either or both. As long as the direction is right for the appropriate eye it doesn't make a difference.

Thank you for your quick replying. ok, the prism is on the lens of the good eye but it’s making her quite unsteady when outside. She is ok inside but was wondering if it was the brightness of being outside that was causing it.

Yes either. They're sometimes split between the eyes too, to improve the appearance or weight balance.

Ok thanks. It’s on her good eye and I was wondering if it wasn’t on the wrong one. I presume it take a while for her to get used to it.

She had a stroke in July and has ended up with double vision.

Thanks again.

Will definitely take a while to get used to if caused by a stroke. The double vision will not be consistent I.e. it will be worse for her when turning her eyes in certain directions (depending on where the stroke occurred in the brain).

Over time she will get used to moving her head instead of her eyes and it will improve. Takes time for the brain to adapt to this though x

Great advice I will pass it on. Thanks.
