Does this sound like MS? Please help

Hello,

I'm suffering from lots of weird symptoms and I'm terrified it's MS or MND. I started noticing some of them in early pregnancy recently (pins and needles) so had put it down to that and hormones/early carpal tunnel as I had that with DD, but I've since had a miscarriage and symptoms have ramped up, over a few days really...

Pins and needles in both hands when waking up through the night/in the morning

Buzzing, fizzy feeling in hands
Random tingling feelings including random tingly itchy feeling above top lip at night
Pins and needles/numbness in left toes when getting out of bed but just for a few paces
Muscle twitches randomly all over my body, calves, thighs, behind knees, biceps, forearms, fingers, tummy, neck - basically everywhere. These are worse
Mildly stiff muscles and back pain (back pain really bad at the moment from lifting toddler badly)
Foggy brain and difficulty concentrating.

I'm really scared. My GP is good and I have blood tests Thursday for tons of things but I don't think it's a vitamin deficiency as I eat really healthily; she's testing for thyroid and diabetes as well. She did say that it's very likely to be stress and anxiety after suffering from two miscarriages in a short space of time and juggling work and childcare with covid. I told her my fears about degenerative illness and she said 'it's very unlikely' and 'it won't be'.

I don't notice them as much if I'm distracted with DD or working but at night going to sleep and in the evenings they are so pronounced.

Has anyone suffered from these things and it turned out to be anxiety and stress? Or do these things not actually sound like MS or MND? I feel totally tormented, I can't sleep and I'm really scared.

@glowingtwig did the symptoms continue? Im currently going theough the same thing :( hd my baby 3months ago all started whilst i was pregnant. Xx

I too have been on the 'have I got MS' rollercoaster.

Last year I had weird episodes of dizziness, weak trembly legs, low temperature, then I was getting odd problems with a strange sensation in my neck area and up my back which meant I couldn't sit down. Had loads of twitches. A weird fuzzy feeling comes and goes on my top lip. Then I had my arms join in and start feeling 'dead' from time to time, progressing to numbness on waking. One day my hand swelled up. Then my right leg started to join in and I had buttock pain and thigh pain.

Had a brain and spine MRI - I have minor nerve impingement in my neck spine, and a minor disc bulge in my lumbar spine. I'm still a bit stuck in terms of trying to get help for whatever the F is going on with me, but it's not MS.

I'm now looking into thoracic outlet syndrome which I may not have, but it can cause a lot of arm symptoms, and some people also suffer headaches and face twitches with it.

Like you, I scared myself silly last summer looking up MS and being 100% convinced that I had it. I didn't have it, and now I can see that if I had, it wouldn't have been the end of the world, plenty of people live great lives with MS.

Its soo scary :( i had a brain n neck mri both clear and a nerve conduction! But why is all this happening:( im do to have a spinal mri!
My leg hurts and my foot seems numbish ever since i gave birth! Not sure if its due to hormones or the epidural xx

Just jumping on this thread as I am having identical symptoms and am waiting for a neurologist appointment
Bloods were all normal. I get very very tired and also leg pain/vibrating muscles from time to time.

Starrr123 · 03/09/2021 20:11

@dryasaboner hey!! Ooo are you :( its horrible isnt jt! Have you not long had a baby? Xx

Starrr123 · 03/09/2021 20:13

@YellowSunshineSkyhow long weree your symptoms going on for ? Xx

ThatSunnyCorner · 03/09/2021 20:28

Oh OP, glad your symptoms are subsiding a little. I had very similar symptoms earlier this year (plus feeling badly bruised in random spots). The GP had me admitted to hospital as I was a few months post covid and there was a concern about Guillain Barré. Had lots of blood tests, neurological tests and a brain scan. Nothing amiss at all. The medics decided it was down to stress (DC was very ill at the time).

Looking back, I suspect it was a combination of post covid symptoms - don't know if that might fit for you - and perhaps an element of stress too. Wishing you all the best Flowers

dryasaboner · 03/09/2021 21:03

No my youngest is five
I have wondered if this is due to COVID as symptoms have started since then

Starrr123 · 03/09/2021 21:12

@ThatSunnyCorner i had covid twice. And thinking about it the second time i was pregnant and the symptoms started since then xx

YellowSunshineSky · 04/09/2021 11:01

@Starrr123 I had my original big episode of symptoms for around 3 months, then it all settled down.

Unfortunately some of it flared up again this summer and I'm still trying to get an accurate diagnosis. But I'm 99% certain my symptoms are caused by impingement of nerves in neck and/or thoracic outlet syndrome. But my enduring symptoms are headaches and arm pain. All the trembling weak legs and twitches went away, I think they were anxiety.

Hi @glowingtwig did you ever get to the bottom of this? My husband is having similar issues.

thanks

Sandiegodreaming12 · 03/05/2024 00:16

Hi

did you ever find out what it was? I just experienced a chemical pregnancy two months ago and started having the exact same symptoms

Sandiegodreaming12 · 03/05/2024 00:30

Hi! I’m experiencing this exactly. How long did it take for yours to go away? My levels are 25

Thank you to everyone who has replied. I was feeling a bit better reading them through.

I've woken up in such a state though. I did get a better sleep but woke up at 3am with a numb hand again- I've realised it's not so much pins and needles but a numbness up the side of my hand that goes away when I move my fingers. Then I woke up again with my nose tingling and feeling like it was very slightly twitching and tingling feelings down to my lip and up my cheekbone. And I just thought 'I know this is MS'. How can this be anxiety if I'm waking up from sleep with these symptoms?

And I can recall having this same sensation - like a tickly feeling- on the top of my nose a few times a while ago.

I feel like I honestly can't cope and I don't know what to do at all. My husband has had to go to work, no one can come over, I can't see my mum. What am I going to do?

Hi OP, did you ever get to the bottom of this as I’m going through similar!
