Slightly elevated urea?? Please help put my mind at rest

Hoping someone can help put my mind at rest as I can feel my anxiety running away with me. i've been having some problems lately with heart palpitations and mild niggling pain in both sides and gallbladder area. Nurse at gp practice sent me for blood tests (don't know what specific ones as I wasn't told and didn't ask). I phoned today for results and the receptionist said they were all normal except for 'urea' which had been marked 'slightly outwith normal range' but the gp had said no further action required. I feel I should be relieved the doc clearly isn't worried about it but now my mind's running away with me that there's something horribly wrong with my kidneys due to this pain in my sides and near where my gallbladder is and I'm starting to notice things that are probably nothing like little bubbles in my pee (I know frothy urine is sign of kidney probs). Someone please give me a reality check and help me put my mind at rest that the blood test results are probably nothing to worry about.

Urea on its own doesn’t tell you anything much - it could change for no other reason than being a bit dehydrated/ having had eaten a load of meat recently! Your GP, with the full set of results, is in a much better position to advise you than anyone here is.

I would have thought they would have wanted to repeat it in a few months.
If your problem hasn’t gone to need to see a GP again.

Thanks for your replies. I think (or hope) I'm just letting my mind run away with me.

Hi op, phone gp tomorrow and ask to speak to doctor. I know how you feel as I would be the same, it is probably nothing, the doctor will have checked them and authorised receptionist to let you know

You most likely need to drink a little more.
