Bit gross, spots on back

Sorry in advance, posting here for the traffic... I have had spots on my back for the last year or so, I would often sling on the same jumpers while wfh so thought it may be that. To try and tackle it, over the past couple weeks, have been wearing fresh cotton t shirts daily, showering morning and night and scrubbing my back in the shower with soap and a scrubbing brush. New sheets and pillow cases too, changed twice a week. My upper back is better but still new, angry red spots are popping up every day! Can anyone help? I do lean against my pillows to work so wondering if it is friction, maybe I should work lying on my front (only half joking) as Im desperate to clear this... I'm a mid 20s woman ffs not a teenager Sad

pleeeease help

Hmm the only time this happened to me was when I was pregnant - maybe it's something to do with your hormones? Worth a GP phone appointment?

I remember the spots being swollen and angry, so you have my every sympathy!

I had terrible bacne when I was taking the mini pill and when I had the contraceptive implant. Changed back to a combined pill and within a couple of months it had totally cleared up and hasn't come back 2 years later.

Have you recently changed contraceptive or anything?

This happened to me when I went on the pill it’s awful and I used to scratch the ones I could. I found nip and fab glycolic pads helped. I used to wipe the area at night before I fell asleep.

Try the superdrug deep action back spray. It isn't nice to inhale though, makes you cough so take a deep breath, spray, then run out of the room for your next breath.

It works for me, and on my decolletage as well.

Some ingredients in shampoo and conditioner can cause/encourage back acne. The soap is also likely to be highly astringent which can also make it worse, that along with the scrubbing. I think you need a more gentle approach, salicylic acid body wash, no scrubbing, check your shampoo/conditioner.

The Ordinary niacinamide sorted my back spots out. I’ve moved on to Revolution niacinamide essence spray which seems to be keeping it bay too.

If none of the above suggestions work, you could visit your GP and ask for a roaccutane prescription - it's not suitable if you're pregnant or TTC though.

My daughter was prescribed something called Epiduo, it's got peroxide and adapalene in. It worked very well and once cleared up they haven't reappeared.

How did you apply it?

I've had body acne for 30 years, tried a host of topical and oral treatments, pretty much given up but haven't tried this.

cannaethink · 27/01/2021 15:35

@nanbread I just put it on my hands and rubbed it on my back. It’s my upper back that’s the problem so I suppose it’s easier to reach! The Revolution one is a spray though so I usually spray it directly on my back and rub it in.

I had this once when I was very stressed and run down. It went away after I was feeling better.
