Just wondering has any other Mumsnetter had this ?
Feeling dizzy when I get out of bed and dizzy when I get into bed and lie down. When I get up I'm a tad unsteady.
I have tinnitus. My hearing has declined. I'm a bit nervous making an appointment to see GP because of Covid.

Rhubardandcustard · 23/01/2021 20:06

Labyrinthitus ?
Dizziness and nausea were my symptoms.

Anxiety?
Labyrinthitis?

Labyrinthitis, as others have said. Google epley manœuvre, if you can find someone to do it quite vigorously - or at least as much as you can stand - it should help. Ask your gp for stemetil and hyoscine patches. It’s rough, I know!

I had a telephone consultation with my GP mid December for pretty much exactly the same symptoms (the giddiness was quite a long term thing and I have occasional moments of total loss of balance) I don’t have any hearing loss however. The dizziness he thinks is BPPV and for this he prescribed me Betahistine, he didn’t ask to see me to examine my ears but when I casually mentioned the tinnitus in one ear that I’ve had for well over 12 months he immediately said he needed to refer me to an ENT consultant as one sided tinnitus can have an underlying cause. I’m seeing a consultant next week using my private healthcare so will be interesting to see what he has to say. I actually stopped taking the Betahistine about 5 days ago as I think it was making me feel worse and I’ve felt much better the last few days, I can lie down and turn over in bed without feeling sick and spinny. The tinnitus is still there and I’m aware the dizziness may return so will get the check with the consultant as both the GP and consultant were insistent I should do. Don’t be worried to speak to your GP about your symptoms, they can prescribe medication with just a phone consultation if they think you need it. Good luck.

I have had vertigo intermittently for 9 years now. When it started, it was so bad I struggled to walk across the room without holding onto something - it was like being on a boat in a force 9 gale (must have been quite entertaining to watch). It's never come back as bad, but my head gets pretty spinny sometimes if I turn in the wrong way.

My dr diagnosed me over the phone (I was convinced I was dying). He told me to get some menthol and breathe in the vapours with a bowl of hot water and a towel. I thought he was taking the mick, but it does help a lot.

Also he tinnitus for as long as I can remember. I had so many ear infections as a kid - seems to be my weak spot.
