Chronic thrush

I've been suffering with chronic thrush for 3 months straight now, I've taken fluconazole more times than I can remember and the creams and pessaries didn't do anything, I had a swab done about a month ago and they did say I had thrush but just prescribed me more fluconazole despite me telling them it didn't work. I've tried natural yoghurt both eating and inserting, tea tree oil, coconut oil, boric acid, I can't think of anything else that could work. I'm wondering if there could be anything else causing it or alongside it?
TMI
I don't really have any discharge or itching but a horrible burning sensation constantly in and around vagina and anus. I never get a break from it, nothing dampens the pain. I'm in bits and I don't know what to do. Desperate for help unfortunately NHS aren't seeing anyone unless they're on deaths door right now. Any suggestions or help would be very much appreciated, thanks in advance

I ended up going on the mirena coil to balance hormone. I also take probiotic tablets with candida which is the fungus that causes thrush. I also know that I get thrush as I ovulate so will take a tablet the day before and then the say after and use a pessary 3 days in a row around that time to keep it at bay. It's awful and really frustrating.

I suffered from chronic thrush for years, but now I think I'm finally free as I haven't had any symptoms for five months (I used to get it once a month at least). Maybe I'm too hopeful too soon, but still wanted to share what I did to get rid of it. It's quite a long list... I've tried to organise them so that the once the top are the once I think are the most important, but it's hard to say what was it that finally cracked the code.

  • I nagged my GP into putting me on a long term antifungal oral tablet. I had to nag as she was reluctant for whatever reason. I was on one tablet a week for 8 weeks.
  • My partner also treated himself for thrush but for him one oral tablet and a week of cream did the job.
  • I stopped shaving down there, now only trim (but still shave my bikini line from time to time). Every time you shave you create little cuts which thrush loves...
  • I take Optibac for women probiotic one tablet per day. It's not cheap but if it's what's stopping the thrush from coming back then it's worth it!
  • I got rid of all synthetic underwear and now only wear cotton and bamboo ones.
  • I only wash with water down there and I use unperfumed shower gel for the rest of the body because it will eventually trickle down there anyways. I wash once a day.
  • I wash underwear with unperfumed laundry detergent and I use dettol laundry cleanser for sensitive skin as a rinse which kills bacteria as well because thrush is a stubborn thing that can live on in your underwear... I also use the dettol rinse for my towels and I make sure to change my towels often.
  • I don't use fabric softener.
  • I make sure to always wash after sex.
  • I swapped our lube to water based Yes! Lube. Apparently sorbitol and glycerin which is in pretty much all lubes is like candy for thrush.
  • I try not to wear tight trousers, at least not for too long.
  • I sleep commando.
  • I take extra vitamin D in the winter and a multivitamin yeae round for my immune system. Not sure how important this is for thrush but since our body is one big holistic system then at least it doesn't hurt.
  • I stopped going to our pool. You're really just swimming around in chlorine and other people's dirt.
  • I don't drink sugary drinks... but I never really have and I still used to get thrush so not sure how important this is either.
  • I'm very lucky that I don't have periods thanks to my mirena coil but I do sometimes use panty liners for incontinence and I've changed all of those to non-scenented ones. Honestly I feel like so many of the companies that market things for our vaginas (lubes, vaginal washes, pantyliners...) are out to give us thrush on purpose.... EVERYTHING IS SCENTED or contains other bad stuff. Had to order special liners off the internet because I couldn't find unscented ones in the shop...

It's an exhaustive list I know but I really hope it helps and that you will too be thrush free soon.
