I would suggest 999 x

Search wind relieving pose and other yoga poses for constipation, basically lie on his back with his knees pulled into his chest and roll around on his back. Also try sparkling water.

paisley256 · 20/01/2021 19:52

This is the best thing I've ever tried.

Glycerine suppositories are quite gentle but definitely worth a try - I can never understand taking stuff via mouth to empty bowels. Better to try at the other end.

Soulstirring · 20/01/2021 20:01

I had terrible constipation in pregnancy and I will echo what others said, lactulose does not work. Glycerin suppositories were wonderful

If he’s passing little urine and in that much pain I’d be considering A&E or trying 111 again

PlanDeRaccordement · 20/01/2021 20:08

I had a friend with similar. What worries me is how you say you DH is in terrible pain every ten minutes. I took my friend to A&E and it was diverticulitis that had gotten infected, inflamed and then ruptured. He had emergency surgery within hours of us getting there and then weeks in hospital on IV antibiotics because the rupture led to s massive internal infection.

I’d take your DH to A&E.

iklboo · 20/01/2021 20:10

Definitely escalate - don't try home remedies or an enema as they might make things worse. He could be very impacted and need proper medical assistance.

addicted2spaniels · 20/01/2021 20:15

Ring 111. If he's in pain, something is wrong.

LegoAndLolDolls · 20/01/2021 20:21

I would say 111 too. My ds has terrible constipation and was in agony once and A&E sorted him out

MagnoliatheMagnificent · 20/01/2021 22:45

Thanks everyone. We decided A+E was best plan, been here a couple of hours now. Not allowed to stay with DH because of COVID situation (so I'm lurking in a corridor with a book!) He has been assessed and is waiting to see a Dr....

I hope all is well. As well as taking in fibre and lots of water, exercise is also essential to keeping the bowel active and if he's relatively mobile he should be walking at least 3 times a week. All the best

Cantchooseaname · 21/01/2021 06:00

Hope it all works out.

Londonnight · 21/01/2021 06:02

I hope it all works okay well OP, at least you are now in the right place.

Any news op?

CrocodilesCry · 22/01/2021 22:08

Thinking of you OP and your husband. So glad whatever the outcome that you didn't leave this too long before getting him to hospital.

huuuuunnnndderrricks · 22/01/2021 22:17

Hope he is ok .
