Left ovary pain. Possible miscarriage or ectopic

Hi guys.

It's been a hell of a week for me. I had been trying for nearly 11 months to conceive my 2nd child and I finally got a bfp on 10th Jan.

I spotted brown blood but come the Tuesday I had passed a small clot. I called the doc and said I'm not sure but I maybe miscarrying.

She advised because it was so early on in pregnancy that there was no way to tell if if I had or not. And that I wouild need to wait 13 days till I was 6 weeks so they can do a vaginal scan. And 7 weeks would be a normal belly scan.

The wait was horrific. I'm still bleeding now. I've passed tissue, brown blood, red blood, dark brown/black blood and 'coffee grounds'. So I was sure I miscarried.

I did a test on Sunday 17th, Monday 18th and yesterday 19th. And they look as though they're getting darker!?!!!

I mean if that's not confusing then I don't know what.

I've had a pain in my right ovary too so I am so scared about that. As everything is now pointing to ectopic.

I'm so worried but calmer now that somethig is being done. I had some bloods Tues and today so when results come we can see my HCG levels and what they are doing.my results from Tues are 343hcg.

I hope to god its not ectopic, as bad as it sounds I would rather a miscarriage. :(

Had anyone else experienced this? Can you see the rise on the tests?

I should get my blood results tomorrow. I'm so so scared.

Hi all.

Thank you for your messages. All your stories are so varied, it goes to show doesn't it. And I'm so sorry to hear all of them. What strong ladies you are. xx

@goose1964 I can't believe your story. What a cheeky baby.

@Someone1987.. I can't believe how high your hcg levels were and how they missed it. I also can't believe you had no pain. I'm so glad they got there in the end. I'm so sorry for your loss 💕💐

So update is I had my results back and they have doubled. And she said they did see a sac. So there is a possibility. BUT
It still could be a miscarriage as it could be the rise before the fall. Also, ectopic isn't ruled out.
Now the spanner in it all is I suspected I had thrush and went to the doc who said I had a urine infection. I am on antibiotics for 7 days. 3 more days to go.
Now my pain in my ovary is going, almost gone in fact.
Noone told me a bad urine infection can cause pain in one ovary. I asked the doc and she said yes certainly it can do that.
So now I am waiting for a scan on Thursday. That will be the day of answers.

They said to call ASAP if my pain worsens or if I bleed heavily.

I'm not getting my hopes up as I am very aware of the possibility of miscarriage and ectopic still. Especially as I'm still bleeding coffee grounds. And I know all of the stories I have read on here can always take a sudden turn. Even when faced with hope.
So I'm being realistic as getting your hopes up means a harder fall.. And I don't want that. Xx
I will let you know how the scan goes on Thursday.
Thank you so much for your support through this, it means so much. Xx

Hi OP, I had pain with my first and it turned out to be implantation pains, I was a few days less pregnant than I thought I was and all they could see was a sac on the first early scan I had. A second scan a week later confirmed the pregnancy. Finger crossed it's something like that x

Someone1987 · 22/01/2021 19:05

@Bx121 thank you for your kindness. 💐
I was a rare case, I will never know why I didn't have pain and why it didn't rupture. We had a meeting with the head of gynae who said they are much more cautious for other women now, which is something. I have had EMDR therapy for it, as I was so traumatised from the whole thing, added to by the fact I kept asking if my tubes were clear and I was told they were repeatedly. Later she admitted she didn't look there properly. To think if it was found earlier I wouldn't have had to lose my tube and had methotrexate 🥺

I'm sorry you are currently unsure what is going on. I will be thinking of you Thursday and if you feel able to, I'll check this thread again then. We are here for you. Xx

Hi

@mushroom3, oh wow, I truly hope my story is like yours. Time will tell 😏
I have slightly tender breasts now so that's also confusing but I guess that's the hormones but did have another clot type thing yesterday which has worried me alot and slight period pains. Urgh so many symptoms and no real answers.

@Someone1987.. Gosh you poor thing. What an ordeal and the fact the doc admitted negligence. Terrible. But like you say the positive is that they are weary of this for future patients. Big hugs to you xx

Hi OP, how are you doing?

Bx121 · 28/01/2021 19:17

Hi

Thanks for your message. 💕

What a day... Well what a few weeks!!

I had my 2nd scan today showed no sac this time. It had gone and now there was some sort of longish bit of fluid which they say could be left over from miscarriage.

They wanted more bloods to check my HCG was declining. I waited and got a phone call earlier and they had gone from 800ish to 3000 ish.

I can't cope with this uncertainty. Whatever is happening now is definitely gone from bad to worse.

I was hoping for this to end and it all be over :(

The urine infection has now gone, so I have no ovary pain, bleeding has basically stopped. But this is happening.

Anyone else had this happen? Good and bad stories....

Thanks. Xx

Flowers I hope you get some answers soon

Hi OP. I had similar. My first scan showed evidence of a pregnancy, my levels continued to rise and then my womb had emptied. Levels still rose and that’s when they became more certain it was ectopic. With levels that high they should be able to see evidence of an ectopic on a scan. A consultant saw mine and my levels were at 750.
I unfortunately ruptured, which I think is owing to my high pain threshold, so they didn’t really recognise the signs.

Lililou · 29/01/2021 14:02

Hi OP, I know I've posted before but my story if it helps:

I thought I was miscarrying after painful cramps, bleeding and passing large clot. Abdominal scan showed empty uterus but they didn't do transvaginal (I'm complaining to the hospital about this atm). They agreed I was probably miscarrying but couldn't confirm. My HCG levels were about 7250. After 48 hours they had a "sub-optimal" rise to about 7500. I think mine were that high as I was 9 weeks pregnant.

I got a private transvaginal scan which picked up the ectopic immediately. Given my high HCG levels, surgery was my only option. Then had many arguments with the hospital as it was weekend and they wouldn't scan me or accept the private scan.

I found reading up on the NICE guidelines enormously helpful. It helped me to understand what might be going on, they helped me realise I probably had an ectopic as it explains what differences in HCG levels might mean. Emphasis on might, there are exceptions. They helped me to understand the different treatment options for both miscarriage and ectopic and when each is recommended. It helped me to ask the right questions of the hospital and push for what I needed.

@Bx121

What happened ? Hope you are ok?

Bx121 · 12/02/2021 15:22

Hey @RinkyD,

Thanks for the check in.

Sadly, it was confirmed ectopic. I have since had my right fallopian tube removed 😔
I was glad to finally have closure to be honest. It was such an awful time not knowing what was happening to me.

They kept going backwards and forwards one minute miscarriage, next minute ectopic and then potential normal pregnancy.

So, I'm off work and healing at home.

What a shitty time but now I'm getting over that I now only fear of having another ecropic or taking a long time to conceive again with the potential of having another ectopic ontop of that.

It took nearly 11 months to conceive that time 😔

Hope you are all OK xxx

I am sorry for your loss; I also had my tube removed. It took me some years to get pregnant again, but I did. But I do know people who have got preg very quickly to.

I understand the fear of trying again, but you will be on the radar and you will get a scan when you are 5 weeks to check where the pregnancy is. If it is ectopic again there is the option of a medical drug that can clear it without loss of tubes if it is found early on.

Life is too short to let fear stop you, take your time and heal and then when you feel ready try again. I would not go for the whole TTC roundabout, I got pregnant when I gave up.

It is hard, check out the Ectopic pregnancy trust discussion board you can join others on a TTC journey after ectopic.

Good Luck.
