Trigger warning (for emetophobes): contains photo of v*m*t. For good reason - does this look like 'coffee grounds' to you?

So i understand coffee grounds to be blood in the vomit due to bleeding as a result of excessive vomiting.

Dd seems to have cyclic vomiting syndrome (we think). This was from yesterday evening after she had been sick several times and had only eaten toast (early afternoon) - not kept down, and a couple of chocolate buttons! (also not kept down)

Sorry for the grimness

I am really worried about her

I have no idea but can you speak to your doctor? Mine has a system where you can upload photos for phone /video appointments.

Not from that pic.
Coffee ground vomit literally looks like coffee grounds. That looks like bile.

FurryTurnipHead · 20/01/2021 15:11

No, my dad recently vomited the coffee grounds type (confirmed by paramedics who later attended) and as pp said it looked literally like coffee grounds, no other liquid, almost dry looking.

BlossomCat · 20/01/2021 15:13

To me, that looks more like the partially digested chocolate. The ragged edges/clumpiness of the lumps looks like a milky type vomit rather than blood.
A true coffee ground vomit is darker, and more granular. (I was a nurse for 30+ years)
It's still worrying that the poor girl is being sick so often, so try and get a gp appointment as soon as you can. Hopefully you get some answers/relief very soon.

Thanks all - good to know that it's probably not coffee grounds.

She is under her GP - seen last week. Will be booking another appointment. Vomiting has settled this afternoon

Does her breath smell of poo ? Could it be faecal vomiting?

LimitIsUp · 21/01/2021 09:05

It wasn't that (thank goodness), no odour
