Non-stick dressing?

DP sliced some skin off the side of his finger last night with a very sharp knife. It bled a lot and we put a bandage on it, but it didn't seem like it could have been stitched (wide, shallow wound).

He is now trying to change the dressing, but it is stuck to the wound. It hurts to remove it, and it's making it bleed again. If he does manage to get it off, presumably he will just have the same problem with the new dressing. Is there some kind of non-stick dressing we can get so it can heal, but not stick to it?

How big is the wound? You can get non adherent dressings that you could tape on. Would probably have to cut to size first

And try soaking the old dressing off

A bit smaller than a half pence... He is soaking it, but it's really stuck. What would a non adhesive dressing be called?

If its small like that would a plaster not fit?
They are called non adherent dressings but they might be far too large

Oh yes, it probably would now, a plaster wasn't up to the job last night, but it might be now if the current dressing comes off nicely... non-adherent, got it! Thanks for the advice.

Use salty water to soak it off, will help it heal.
