Would you say this is infected?

Will be seeing pharmacist or gp tomorrow if I can get through. But wondering if I need to or not.

Burnt my finger 10days ago. Ran it under cold water but it blistered anyway. The blistered popped itself when it got knocked so I bandaged it when seeping and put savalon on it for a few days. It then left a huge crater and the flap of the blister got sheared off when I had keys snatched out of my hand by toddler. It was seepy/pussy for a bit but cleared up and I thought healing nicely albeit VERY painful still. Now I've noticed a red ring forming around it Whixh makes me think maybe that it has become infected? Thoughts please.

Would you say this is infected?

I'm not a doctor but that's fine. It's just healing. I really wouldn't bother a dr about this - especially right now - and I wouldn't see a pharmacist either but that's the option you should go for it you feel you need to

But really, it's fine

Draw a ring around the redness to see if it's expanded in the morning. It looks alright to me but it's hard to judge from the photo. I would speak to the pharmacist only if there is pus or the redness expands. They should be able to give antibiotic cream without GP having to prescribe.

It doesn't look infected to me but the position it's in is most likely why it's so painful - easily knocked etc.
If it's not seeping you need a light gauze and bandage it for a couple days to protect it from knocks. Keep it dry x Check with pharmacist if you can xx

Hi OP. Is it hot and/or sore, and do you feel that the skin is tightening? I'm not a doctor either, btw, but these are some of the clues I'd be looking for in myself with something like that.

topical antiseptic good idea. I find things that hurt constantly are probably infected.

QueenOfPain · 21/01/2021 19:47

I think it looks like it’s just healing, keep it clean and covered. The red ring looks like newly granulated tissue.

Poor you. Reading that made me flinch. Several times. Probably fine but I would show a pharmacist. Just pop in. You don't need an appointment.
