Constant herpes outbreaks! Please help!

I've had genital type 1 since 2007.

I had the first episode (diagnosed), then one other recurrence when I had tonsillitis. And nothing.
Until this past year.

It's constant. I maybe get 3/4 weeks between if I'm lucky. Sometimes it's back to back.

If I shave it triggers it.
Even 'sensitive' hair removal cream triggers it.
Sex triggers it.
My period triggers it.

I'm sick of the nerve pain, the itching, stinging, no sex life with OH.

Why would I be fine for so many years then this??
I'm not keen on taking acicolvir long term (resistance??), but I will have to I think.

Has anything worked for anyone??

I've ordered l lysine, I eat well but do drink alcohol.

Not much has changed in my lifestyle, in fact I eat way better than all those years I never got outbreaks.

I took a very low dose of acyclovir,as a suppressive therapy for about 18months as I kept getting regular flare ups. I now notice I get break outs when I'm run down & especially in the winter,as apparently vitamin d helps. I'm 20 years down the line of my herpes diagnosis. I make sure I always have some acyclovir in my first aid kit & take it if I know it's going to be a particularly bad flare up,as I can usually tell now & I'm also pretty in tune with the first signs of a flare up & take a short, sharp dose & that usually gets rid of it quicker.

Thanks I need to pick up my prescriptions better, cause I can get stuck on weekends or bank holidays if I haven't picked up my repeat and I know it works better when taken at the first signs.

My first sign is usually thinking I've got thrush (another thing I often have) and then the nerve pains, then blisters.

I'll try be more vigilant in taking my vitamin D as well.

It definitely helps if you take it as soon as you can. With me it's an uncomfortable tingling feeling & a bit of an itch. I then take 1 tablet 5 times the first day & that usually settles it down.
Sympathies, it's a horrible thing to suffer with.
