Poor dd has been ill for ages now. She had the vomiting bug doing the rounds around 2 weeks ago. Then she developed a sore ear. It went on and off for a few days but eventually, last Tuesday, dh took her to the doctor and she was given antibiotics for a suspected ear infection (doc could not see the ear drum because of the amount of wax - this is an ongoing problem with dd!).
She got the antibs as she had had a fierce temperature for 3 days (before she saw the doc) and it had stopped responding to nurofen/calpol.
So that meant her temp must have started last Saturday. Well, despite the antibs, she still has a temperature. She's definitely not in as much pain, she's not waking up at night at all BUT the lumps in her neck (behind her ear but further down her neck, her lymph glands I guess) are still swollen and large and her temperature is spiking almost every afternoon (for the last 2 days, it's hit the heady heights of 41.5C!).
Apart from the lumps and her getting lethargic when she has a temperature (and the odd complaint about her ear), you would not know she was ill AT ALL.
So, we'll have to take her back on Monday I guess but has anyone else's child ever gone through something like this?
