Pains/twinges in cervix - not pregnant

Hi all, has anyone experienced this? It's a bit like that little stabbing pain you get in your cervix while pregnant, only I'm not. It's not everyday, but on the days when it does happen it can come and go all day, and then nothing for a few days.
I've sent an econsult to my gp, but I'm a naturally anxious person and can't find any innocent explanations for this from my googling - in fact I can't find much at all! Would be interested to know if anyone else has experienced it.
Thanks!

Hi OP. I don't have that exactly, but I do intermittently get a sort of 'prickle'. I mentioned it to my GP (and also the nurse on another occasion) and explained that it felt as though there was a thistle in there... They didn't know what it was, but suggested it might be a symptom of dryness (I'm getting on and have been through menopause). I don't know your age, but could it be that?

Hi Spudsandgravy, thanks for replying. I'm 36, I don't feel dry, but I have wondered if changing hormones as I get older are playing a part.

Gp has replied to my econsult requesting to see me in the next 2 weeks for an examination so hopefully they'll be able to reassure me. I can totally live with it, I just always worry everything is something sinister!
