I’m not overly concerned but whilst reading out a shopping list to my partner ( doing the internet food shopping )

I was looking through the pictures on the screen & could not remember the word toothpaste !! The photo was right there !!
Does anyone else ever get this ? 🙄😂

It happens to everyone at times but it's odd you couldn't remember with a picture to prompt you. Not to be rude but are you of menopause age? There's some links with menopause and word finding difficulties.
Otherwise, keep an eye on it. If it happens a lot or other areas of speech / language change you should get checked out. Can be indicative of something neurological.

All the time, and phrases and titles too.
In our house, Celebrity Antiques Roadtrip is now known as 'Famous People Selling Antiques at a Loss' and The Repair Shop is called 'Mending Broken Things' due to my inability to remember their proper names.

EmmanuelleMakro · 13/01/2021 13:30

Can’t remember..😀

EmmanuelleMakro · 13/01/2021 13:31

Seriously -yes! And occasionally worries me but the word comes back when I stop trying to retrieve it.

@EmmanuelleMakro @rslsys @Mylittlepony374

Thankyou !! Glad I’m not the only one 😃

Yeah, always have. Nouns more than anything else. I'm pretty poor with names too.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 13/01/2021 13:38

I forget words as I'm speaking.
Mine is a symptom of peri menopause + tiredness.
End up frustratingly describing the thing I'm thinking of because the actual word seems to have disappeared from my brain Sad

Estara · 13/01/2021 13:41

Yes, lots. The word just disappears from my head. I find taking magnesium helps sharpen my brain and brings the words I need to the fore.

Lifesforloving1 · 13/01/2021 18:55

@Estara Thankyou !
I have ordered some magnesium for myself ! x

I get this, I'm 47 and putting it down to peri menopause as I'm getting lots of other delightful symptoms Confused. Dh is always taking the piss out of me describing the "thingy bob" and the "wotsit".

Goldieloxx · 13/01/2021 23:12

Yes, I think it's hormonal

SpudsandGravy · 14/01/2021 15:35

Yes, me too. I try not to worry about it.

AlwaysLatte · 14/01/2021 15:47

No but my DH was bemused to see me trying to find space in the fridge for my cup of coffee instead of the maple syrup this morning!

ivfbeenbusy · 14/01/2021 16:40

ALL the time - has gotten especially worse since having children. Sometimes can barely remember my own name 🤣

ComDummings · 14/01/2021 16:43

Since I’ve had children this happens to me. I think they just use up so much of my brain power it just decides to go ‘nah’ when I try and recall a word now and again Grin

ASnowman · 14/01/2021 16:50

Yes it happens to me often. Usually when I'm tired, hungry, have been on a sugar binge or generally distracted.

Fruggalo · 14/01/2021 16:52

Yes, particularly when I’m tired or stressed

notangelinajolie · 14/01/2021 17:45

I get this when my B12 is low and my jab is due. The big words go first. It's pure brain fuzz.

I also struggle with number recall. When my DD was a baby she had an appointment at the local hospital and I had to book her in at reception. The lady asked me her date of birth and I could not remember Confused how could I ever forget. I was horrified, fortunately DH was there to save me.

I have no chance of passing the test doctors do on old people in hospital. The what year is it and how old are you questions would totally throw me. My family all know what I am like so hopefully when the time comes they can be there to tell the docs that it is perfectly normal for me to be a bit dizzy Grin

Xerochrysum · 14/01/2021 17:49

Happens all the time. And I do my best to remember, since I heard that's the difference between more brain cells dying or not. (don't know if that's true!)

Fatandfifty49 · 15/01/2021 15:12

Yes, just before my period. I also get the feeling everything is moving too fast and I can't think fast enough to keep up

Yellredder · 15/01/2021 19:14

All the time for me! I am of an age where I could be menopausal but have no idea if I actually am!
