Hi there

5 month old baby woke up at 3am this morning and vomited up his last bottle of formula (given to him at 11pm). He is bf with the exception of this one bottle and had had a spoonful of baby rice and a tiny mouthful of pureed butternut squash.

This morning he was VERY sweaty. I think he may have had too many layers on. Anyway, has a rash under his armpits, in creases of his legs and along his jaw line/neck. The colour of it is fading.
He also vomited up his entire feed in a really forceful way today.
He is fine in himself - happy and smiling, but is a bit pale. Have range NHS Direct and waiting for them to call me back.

I am leaving off the solids for a fortnight.

has he got a temperature?

rash sounds like heat rash

Shannaratiger · 27/10/2007 14:19

the rash could be heat rash

hope that's all it is and that he/she is ok.

Much better now. It faded after a while. I reckon it was heat rash. My mum suggested using talc? Too 1970's or is she right?

yes, my dad gets prickly heat and uses talc!

TheEvilDediderata · 27/10/2007 19:22

Well, talc isn't generally recommended these days because of its particulate nature. Some health professionals believe that it can cause breathing difficulties in babies and children.

I'm sure DC will be fine. I agree with the others re: heat rash. If you've turned the heating on lately, and haven't reduced the night clothing, that would account for it.

I wouldn't alter the diet. I doubt it's got anything to do with it

Sudocrem worked when my newborn had a red rash in her armpits. I think it prevented chafing.
