Another one on piles...advice needed!

I apologise in advance for any TMI that is coming...

Currently suffering a bout of piles which happens probably about once every year or so and is normally just about manageable. Not the case with this episode.

I have been using Scheriproct cream and suppositories from a previous bad bout last year for around 5 days now and still very sore. Mainly during and after a BM.

Went back to docs during week as was like passing glass still and she prescribed me Anusol HC and some more Scheriproct supps. She also confirmed the piles were not thrombosed - which surprised me given pain and hardness of them (eurgh!). I think the new cream might be helping marginally but I can't tell for sure. It's still horrendous though.

I'm not generally mega sore during the day (just aware of stinging and itching) and can sleep so I know I'm lucky in that regard. But going to toilet is another story and have HUGE loo anxiety now. Things are all loose due to diet, gallons of water and lactulose but BMs sting and burn and hurt to the point of tears.

I'm wondering maybe I have a fissure too causing the stinging/burning. Has anyone had anything similar that was in fact a tear?

Also Scheriproct is meant to be one of the holy grails for piles but I'm not finding that the case. I know this can be the case for some people so has anyone else found anything that works better for them than Scheriproct??

Oh I have a sitz bath arriving tomorrow to try that as a solution.

Thanks folks!

I suffered a couple of years ago and l wrapped a freezer block in a tea towel and wedged it between my buttock cheeks. That did bring some relief and helped to shrink them down so l could then start pushing them back into my rectum.

Does the cream you're using have lidocaine to numb the area?

Hi @FourDecades thanks for the reply. I haven't done the ice cube thing yet but think I will do that this afternoon. And unless I'm missing something Anusol HC and Scheriproct don't lidocaine. I've definitely seen this somewhere before as being a good thing to use...
