15 month old been sick every night for a week - any advice?

He is perfectly fine during the day - happy, eating well etc but for the last week he has been sick between 7pm and 10pm (either straight after his milk or he has woken up and vomited). It is always preceded by a bad coughing fit (and he was really snotty last week when it started although the snottiness has gone) but I am not sure if the coughing is causing the vomiting or the vomiting is causing the coughing iyswim.

Should I take him to the doctors? As I say, he is perfectly well the rest of the time and since he was a baby, he has had a tendency to be sick when he has a cough - but it is just the regularity that is concerning me atm. And why is it at nightime?

Any advice/ideas?

Coughing can cause vomiting. If it is a productive cough (ie producing phlegm), then it is very easy to bring up the stomach contents.

It is fairly common for a phlegmy child to be worse in the night, having not had the help of gravity to drain the fluids.

I don't think I would take him to the doctor unless he was getting very poorly in himself - but to stay vigilant.

It definitely is a productive cough as we have noticed his chest is rattling with phlegm after his bathtime. So I guess that makes sense that the phlegm that seems to be produced after his bath and then he lies down would cause him to cough maybe?

DD did this a few times with a cold and cough. We tilted her cot slightly so her head end was raised which helped. Also try snufflebabe which is like vicks but specially formulated for babies, it helps keep the passages clear.
