Stuffy nose and sinus pressure - caused by reflux?

A year ago I was diagnosed with silent reflux (LRP) after a barium swallow. This was because I had a sore throat for 3 months that wouldn't go away. Was told to take omeprazole and gaviscon advance and make lifestyle changes e.g. sleep propped up. This helped and my throat got a lot better. In the summer I stopped the medication and was fine.

For the last 2 months I have had a mild sore throat again but also a stuffy nose, post-nasal drip, mucus at the back of my throat (but also feels dry) and sinus pressure. I have health anxiety so have been panicking I have some kind of fatal illness like a brain tumour or nose cancer 😆. Had a negative covid test too (Zoe app told me to test).

Sounds stupid but I only just realised this could also be caused by LPR? I try to avoid googling but did a sneaky search and looks like LPR can cause sinus issues but I never heard of this before.

So I am wondering...has anyone else had LPR cause sinus issues? Should I go back on the medication? I have read that PPIs like omeprazole don't help with LPR because it is the digestive enzymes that cause the damage not acid and I don't want to take medication if I don't need to.

Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Same problem here - flares up every now and then. What helps me the most is chewing gum - Wrigleys extra white for me (I think it's more alkali or something)

Peptac liquid from the chemist is cheap £3 for a huge bottle ) and works for me - it puts a raft on top of stomach contents so I have a big gulp before l go to bed to keep digestive juices where they should be and to protect my throat

Thanks for the response. I have to be a bit careful of gum as I also have TMJ.

I didn't know that peptic did that. Gaviscon Advance is ridiculously expensive.

Peptac has the same ingredients and is a third of the price - You have to double up the amount to get the same effect but it still works out way cheaper
