Blepharitis? Tell me how to shift it.

Dry, flaky, slightly puffy eyelid. Just affecting inner corner and crease.
I clean it with a warm, wet flannel or cotton wool pad. It is then shiny, red, and sometimes sore. Have tried savlon, sudocrem and am now using E45 lotion as per pharmacist recommendation.
No change and it's been like this since October.
What causes this and how do I get rid of it? Dr Google is maddeningly vague.

Saw two pharmacists who both dismissed it as blepharitis and looked blank when asked about what to use. Second one, when pressed suggested the cetraben.
Am gonna contact doctor I think

Sounds like a good idea, especially as you've tried for so long with no success.

I use Blephagel every day, but mine is related to eczema. My doctor gave me a prescription for a very weak hydrocortisone ointment to use rarely and sparingly. It is the only thing that works. You can't get it at the chemist and the 1% stuff is too strong.

I got this from the eye hospital. It's like a vaseline that stays in your eyes overnight

scopeeyecare.com/shop/vita-pos/

and this for day time use every couple of hours

scopeeyecare.com/shop/hylo-forte-2/

These together fixed my eyes like magic. Can't remember how long it took. Perhaps 2-3 weeks religious use.

I use the Hyko Forte in the day and it's lovely. I didn't know that they did a night version, I'm not getting on with my current night eye gel, it's making my eyelids itchy, so thanks for that @ekidmxcl Smile

I think it's time to see your GP. If it is eczema you may need a weak steroid cream (don't put OTC steroid on it without seeing the GP as they can thin your skin). Other differential diagnoses could be a form of psoriasis or a contact dermatitis.

It's very difficult to tell without a picture!

If you can post a picture

I had a rash on my eyelids, flakey skin. I got rid of it with that nappy rash cream in the grey tub. Magic cream as we call it.

the dr at the eye clinic told me to bathe and massage it, plus use eye drops. The gp now gives me eye drops when it starts.

At it's worst I was given steroid cream, eye drops and antibiotics. It was infected and it took 6 weeks of antibiotics, drops and cream to shift it.

I've got something similar - red/flaky/slightly crusty eyelid and around to the side of my eye - but nothing in the lashes.

It's only come on fairly recently (started as just one dry patch that came and went sporadically) and I have assumed it's psoriasis, as I have it on other parts of my body. Need to get that verified though, as I have no idea how to treat it ignoring doesn't seem to have helped
