Any dentists out there? My tooth has moved itself and I’m confused!

Ok, bit of a strange one... I promise I haven’t been finishing off the Christmas sherry!

I’ve had a nagging ache in my back teeth for a few days, which I’ve been keeping under control with a paracetamol every now and again.

Have had a cursory look, couldn’t see anything untoward, upped the flossing, few saltwater washes and put it down to gritting my teeth (school holidays with bored 9 and 15yo, husband with a cold, there’s been plenty of reason)!

It got a bit much this evening, and eventually bit the bullet and had a proper feel about. Weirdly, it feels like my third tooth from the back, top right, is sitting considerably further into my mouth than the other side... feeling around the outside there’s a definite dent where it’s sat backwards.

Almost seems like it’s shunted itself backwards, for no apparent reason. It’s not wobbly, it’s not enflamed, it’s just... moved. I had braces as a teen (now 32), so everything was pretty straight and in order, so this is now pretty noticeable. Don’t care about the aesthetics (you can’t see it) but it chuffing hurts!

I’ve just made an appointment with my dentist (video appt only initially) but I’m sat here poking it with my tongue thinking, how the hell does this happen? Have I unknowingly smacked myself in the chops and moved my tooth? Are there any secrets to stop it frigging hurting? Would pulling the bloody thing out be a bad idea!? (I’m joking, pretty much...)
