Migraine....ouch!!

I have been suffering with migraine for quite a few years now, but they seem to have become worse since having DS2 and 3 (DS2 is 4) Normally I can feel them or see that they are about to happen and take the neccessary painkillers to either stop it or lessen the pain.

But over the past 2 nights I have had them, they have developed whilst I am sleeping! Last night was particularly bad as it made me very sick with it. I'm fine this morning, I just have hangover like symptoms (without the alcohol )and everything seems a tad too bright (normal after effect for me) but sudden movements of my head do hurt.

So why am I developing them overnight? Normally sleep gets rid of them, but I have no hope if they come while I sleep!!

I am going to go now as I doubt looking at a computer screen will be helpful for my head.
But does anyone have any helpful hints as to how to avoid them (the migraines not the actual person ) or any idea why I seem to be getting them at night?

Are you dehydrated? That brings them on in me. Is your bedroom too warm? Poor you, they are nasty.

do you grind your teeth at night? This gives me headaches like you describe - in fact I've had one for the past three days on and off.

I had thought of the dehydration possibility so am drinking loads of water today. Don't think bedroom is too warm. I'm just glad DH was home last night and is working at home today as he could deal with the boys this morning!

Now I have my sister, dad and twin nephews arriving for lunch soon. Would have cancelled but dad has been looking forward to coming (he had massive heart attack in may and has been v. ill and is now ok to travel) I just told them they have to whisper all day

Actually Belgo, I might! But wouldn't that mean I would get migraines constantly? I do seem to get them in clusters. Not nice!

I grind my teeeth when I'm stressed - also during the day - it was only because my dentist told me that I realised the connection with the headaches.

Maybe you could keep a food diary. you may be eating certain things which trigger them.

Rosyspookily · 25/10/2007 12:30

My migraines are hormonal. I get them when I'm ovulating! Find it impossible to stop them because by the time I realise I'm getting one my digestion has seized up.
I had one last week which I woke up with, was fit for nothing all day.

No advice obviously, just much sympathy....

i get them when my blood sugar drops - maybe a snack before bed - wholemeal toast or something??
