phantom kicks

I know this sounds barking, but has anyone else had this experience? Usually at night, I have started to feel slight fluttery movements in my lower stomach, just above my (double) caesarean scar, that feel just like baby kicks, from what I can remember (youngest is 3 and a half). I can't be pregnant, no haven't done test, but have regular normal periods. And anyway, I certainly don't look 5 months gone. What else can it be? digestion? I suppose I could go see doc but feel a bit silly.

I have this. it is very disconcerting sometimes especially when I'm half asleep at night. There have been other threads on this, it's quite common.

loopylou6 · 25/10/2007 12:50

yep me too, have no clue what it is though, once i got so worried i phoned my friend who is a midwife and she said its probs just a muscle twitch

TimeForMe · 25/10/2007 13:09

It could be wind. Related to irritable bowel perhaps.

EmmaJW1976 · 25/10/2007 13:25

I get this too - quite often!

grumpygriselda · 25/10/2007 13:26

Thanks all of you. Good to know it's quite common, and that belgo and ll6 have had same.

Me, too. Also double c-section, last one only a year old, wonder if its scar related??

JodieG1 · 25/10/2007 15:01

I get this a lot, I could swear sometimes that it's a baby. It's been happening for years though so isn't a baby!

grumpygriselda · 25/10/2007 16:08

Strange. Last night I pressed my hand to the spot, and almost convinced myself I felt a heartbeat ... couldn't sleep then, thinking maybe uterus has moved, or ectopic pregnancy (clearly am not medical person)and what on earth am I going to do now ... So this thread has been a great help, thanks!

I think it's something to do with changes to the vascular system that occur during pregnancy meaning that you are more aware of movement in your gut.

It is a bit freaky, especially as I had it a lot after a miscarriage and at night I would be convinced I was still pregnant and that the baby was kicking, even though I had had a scan that showed I was no longer pregnant.

harleyweendemon · 25/10/2007 16:14
