Bad taste in mouth a few weeks after having a filling...

I was being assessed for invisalign and had to have an xray which showed up some decay on a back tooth due to a inward wisdom tooth growing against it and trapping food in between. If it weren't for the x Ray I would never have know as had no pain or sensitivity. It's the first time I've had a filling at age 40 so pretty gutted. Anyway the last week or so I've noticed that side of my mouth is smelling can't describe it but I just have a bad taste. I know the filling was quite deep and they did mention root canal which to be honest I don't see the point. But is this a sign it's infected?? I've literally had no problems until going for this assessment and having the X Ray. It doesn't feel painful or anything. I've been garlkjbg and flossing more too due to paranoia 😩

If you can then go back to your dentist for a deep clean. The bad taste you are getting is from gum inflammation/ gingivitis. It is nothing big if you do not have any pain but does require cleaning. If you want to try something on your own first then you need tepe interdental brushes. Buy a multi size pack and clean between all your teeth specially the ones at the back. Do it once daily for 3-4 days and most of your problem will be sorted. Your gums will bleed initially but once the bleeding is gone then your problem will be gone too.

This is most likely due to the solvents and low molecular weight monomers present in most resin-based dental materials. The bad taste should resolve with a couple of rinses of water or within the hour.
