Trans Obdurator Tape operation - anyone had one??

Finally had my hospital appointment this morning regarding my lack of pelvic floor following dd's birth, and after a most undignified sesh with catheters, probes and a weird loo, I have been told I am a good candidate for a Trans Obdurator Tape (TOT) operation.

I've looked it up on the interweb and there are both good and bad reports of its efficacy and long-term impact on health.

I've got to lose 2 stone before the operation as well (mutter mutter) but that's a whole other thread!

Has anyone else had this op done and if so how was it for you?

Ta

Bumping for you, lovecat, out of self interest. I am headed for the hospital soon to discuss the parlous state of my lady bits and this was one of the possibilities my GP mentioned.

Anybody know about this?

Ta for the bump, mm - hopefully someone out there can tell us about it!

For the 2 stone weightloss, join sw! The weight will fall off you!

Sorry, never had the op, but the way I leak in aerobics class it may be something worth looking into

Cheers FF - am looking into local groups of ww/sw/rc to see if they've got one at a time I might stand a chance of attending! (I couldn't even begin to think of doing an aerobics class, the state I'm in, I'd need a nappy!)

Hopefully someone out there has had this procedure and can advise??

Hi all, have recently had the operation. So recent infact, that I haven't yet been allowed to put it to the test! The operation takes about 2 hours, from the start to waking up in recovery. I was no where near as sore as I thought I would be so my advice to you all would be to go for it! At only 35 I feel rather embarassed at having to have had this done, but am feeling great. Go on, go for it. Take care.Speak soon

Thanks for the response, Mrs C. Could you give it a couple of weeks then give your impressions? How long is the recovery? More to the point , has it worked for you? Would you recommend it?

lovecat · 01/11/2007 07:55

Thanks Mrs C - ditto merlotmama, please could you give us some feedback in a week or so? Cheers and thanks again!

my mum had this done, and it worked very well for quite a while (several years) she's leaking a bit now, but is 70. Certainly it was an improvement on how she'd been before.

Thanks very much, Loshad - good to know!
