Open to anyone who has already quit with their success stories or anyone who also wants to quit.

I’ve tried twice to stop in the past, once by just stopping and once by gradually cutting down. Both times the withdrawal headaches were awful. Have decided this time to speak to GP first to see if there is anything I can take - like smokers get nicotine patches/gum - while I wean myself off it.

Yay! Well done Covid!

NoZoomAtTheInn · 20/01/2021 08:43

Well done covid! How did you manage it and how are you feeling?

OP posts:
picklemewalnuts · 20/01/2021 09:47

I had half a can last night, because my husband had one.
Every time I fancy some, I drink a pint of water. It's helping a lot, even though I now I'm not thirsty!

Hueandcry · 20/01/2021 10:10

Well done @Covid!!!!

janaus50s · 20/01/2021 11:40

The artificial sweeteners are so bad for health. Aspartame, etc. makes my mind foggy and forgetful. Cut right back too

Covidcovid · 20/01/2021 11:57

I'm not feeling as bad as I thought I would. Had a bit of a headache by bedtime last night but went to bed to ignore it . Felt ok this morning, bit of a headache building now so I'm going to glug a load of water.

NoZoomAtTheInn · 20/01/2021 21:23

Well done @NoZoomAtTheInn

Day 6 of none for me. Luckily I live alone as my mood has been pretty rubbish. Im wondering how long it will be before this becomes natural & I don't have to work at it??

NoZoomAtTheInn · 20/01/2021 22:18

Well done hue! That’s brilliant. Have the headaches gone now? When you say your mood has been rubbish - do you mean you’re short-tempered/tetchy?

Hueandcry · 20/01/2021 22:39

No headache today but yes feeling very tetchy. Currently drinking Pukka Night Time tea & hoping for a good night's sleep tonight

NoZoomAtTheInn · 21/01/2021 21:08

Well done 👏

Covidcovid · 21/01/2021 21:18

Well,done Zoom.

3 days for me. No headaches either. Gets easier every day.

Hueandcry · 21/01/2021 21:19

So annoyed with myself. After a week of none at all I caved & had one. On the plus side it tasted horrible. Just had a really bad day & being alone in lockdown really got to me today Sad

Covidcovid · 21/01/2021 21:24

I think one drink in a week is good. And the fact it tasted horrible even better! Hope I can reset my tastebuds as quickly. I’m eating too much chocolate!

NoZoomAtTheInn · 22/01/2021 08:34

Well done covid :)

hue - I agree with Covid please be kind to yourself. You’ve done so well this week by reducing down. We should all take comfort from things we want when we’re having a bad day. Today is a new day!

3 weeks tomorrow and I think I'm cured! Keep going everyone x x x

Elmo311 · 22/01/2021 12:27

Haha name change fail! (Jumperweather) x

GwendolineWindowlene · 22/01/2021 17:30

10 days for me today. I feel hopeful I can keep going.

Covidcovid · 22/01/2021 18:19

4 days done now. I get the odd fleeting want for a fizzy drink, amd then glug a load of water which seems to work.

Hueandcry · 22/01/2021 19:39

Back on track today. Had to do my Mum's shopping as she is self-isolationg so while there stocked up on fizzy water & even found a bottle of Dandelion & Burdock!! It's not to my taste but at £3 a bottle I'll be drinking it anyway Grin

NoZoomAtTheInn · 22/01/2021 21:21

Lol at namechange fun! :). Can we call you *Elmo’s Jumper”?

Brilliant stuff Elmo, Gwen and Covid!

Fantastic to hear you’re back on track hue - your post sounds very determined - good for you! Sorry you’re not fond of Dandelion and Burdock. I suppose it’s a taste we acquired long ago in our English childhoods. If you’re trying it for the first time, I bet it does taste rather ‘herbal’ :)

None for me today Grin

Covidcovid · 23/01/2021 18:35

I crumbled and had a can today. Back on the wagon tomorrow.

Animum2 · 23/01/2021 19:23

I did this a few years ago was drinking way too much of it, over the space of a month I started cutting down until I was down to 1 can a day and now I haven't had one for a long time, last time I had one it just tasted weird
