I have an embarrassing rash on my inner thigh! Any advice as I don't want to go to GP in current climate

I've attached pic.
I've had it before but not as bad as this. It's not as sore as it looks but is a bit sore!
Previously it's gone away of it's own accord but seems to be lingering longer this time.
I've been putting cocoa butter on it but it's not helping.
I think it's some sort of eczema but not sure.
Thanks
ps. I am a man!

That looks like eczema/psoriasis for sure. You need an emollient cream. Have you got any sudacrem? That would help in the short term but I think if you were to send that pic to your go they would happily prescribe you with a proper emollient cream for that. Is it just in one thigh? Could be caused by sweating. Hope you get that sorted because it can be very painful.

Thanks @Lynchpin2018
Yes, it's on both thighs.
Can I get emollient cream from pharmacy?
I could show the photos.

What you need to do is book a telephone consultation with your GP. They are only doing face to face appointments when absolutely necessary.

Most surgeries now have the software to text you a request for photos. You attach your photo to the link supplied & the GP can see what you’re talking about.

Is it very itchy? If so then I think it’s fungal, you can get clottimazole cream/canesten from a pharmacy.
If it’s not you could try a bit of hydrocortisone cream.

ManWithARash · 27/12/2020 20:47

It's not actually itchy, more sore.

Thing is eczema and psoriasis can be incredibly itchy too. The sudacrem should help calm it down. Emollient cream can be purchased from a chemist. I think it’s likely from sweating/chafing of the thighs. But you should seek medical advice, though I think from experience, this is what they will say.

GP will be able to help without actually seeing you. Dont avoid asking for help, they understand people dont want to go in.. and they would much rather they didnt see you.

At my doctors now everyone gets dealt with the same way and more efficiently, no waiting rooms either. It's a much better process than precovid.

I'd go to the pharmacy in the morning and buy some hydrocortisone over the counter to relieve it a little asap. Please also speak to your GP, there's nothing to be embarrassed about. It may need fungal cream and/or a steroid stronger than hydrocortisone.

I believe my doctor's surgery is open tomorrow so I will try and arrange an appointment.

I'd probably try an antifungal combined with a steroid in a cream, either daktacort or canesten HC (recently remarketed as an athletes foot cream I think). Its likely to be a bit fungal in that area, but possibly started off as eczema, and there aren't many rashes in the groin area or under boobs that don't respond to the combined cream

It’ll be Tuesday. But definitely still seek an appointment.
