dd 9 month just banged back of her head.....i was getting her dressed and she was sat up as i put her top on and threw her self back, so it is the back of head she banged. she was a little bit sick afterwards twice but like a posset. i rang nhs direct and they have said because they cant access head injury over the pohne to take her to a & e i have taken her there before when i panicked and dont want to waste their time again... what do you think ? should i take her to docs at 9am? she has been normal self since and cried straight away after the bang of head. what do you think? thing is she is at that age now isnt she where she will have falls and bangs. dont want to overreact but dont want to risk anything either.... sorry for waffling xx

all they do is observe her there. i took dd2 when she fell downstairs and was a little bit sick. they observed her for 2 hrs in the play room, then let us go home, also gave us a leaflet about head injuries. could u try getting a gp's appt for today?

If your worried just take her to A&E it will put your mind at rest and they won't think your wasting there time. Hope she's ok

My dd bangs her head when she throws herself back and then cries. I've got wooden floors though. What have you got- I bet if she banged her head on a solid floor it would really hurt. Was she easily comforted- if so it may have been the shock rather than pain. it's not really worth risking your dd's health but what I tend to do is keep an eye on her-don't let her sleep and if she seems any different or dopey then take her straight away

Keep her awake for a bit and see if she can follow objects with her eyes and generally keep an eye on her. im sure she will be fine, but it sends you into a right panic doesnt it.

Hi Lilsmum. My (20month) dd pulled a heavy lamp off the piano yesterday onto her head. She cut her scalp and there was blood everywhere. When we cleaned it up we could see it was quite a small cut, which wouldn't need stitches. Didn't want to take her to a+e unnecessarily as it is at least a 45 min drive and then add that to the waiting around I thought it would only upset her more. So we phoned the out of hours doctor. He said if she seemed fine she probably was. We were to keep an eye out for any unbalanced walking (obviously not applicable for your dd) or odd behaviour. Also, to call him back if she was sick. In your dd's case I would recommend taking her to see a doctor at 9am. Just as a precaution - you wouldn't be putting anyone out.
I'm sure she'll be ok - their heads are tough but I would see someone just to be on the safe side.
