Low level right abdomen pain

BiarritzCrackers · 24/12/2020 08:57

Thinking this is too insignificant to call the GP about, but not sure as it's been 5 days.

Really low level continuous ache, to the right of my belly button mostly and a bit lower, sensation increases when i lie on ether side. I can do all normal activity.

I am used to abdominal discomfort as have IBS-D and GORD, but this is different sensation so can't work out what it is.

Nothing else amiss - urinating, bowel movements as usual, no temp, pain is low. What it feels like, is ovulation pain, but it isn't (I already ovulated from the other side, and that only lasts a day or two).

Some things it could potentially be:
Ovarian cyst
Trapped wind
Fibroids
Constipation
Appendicitis
Grumbling appendix
PMS cramps (mine come and go for 10 days a month).

Do you feel unwell at all? Maybe take something like a buscopan and see if that gets rid of it. If not and it doesn’t go away then give your GP a call on Monday

BiarritzCrackers · 24/12/2020 09:23

No, I don't feel in any way unwell. I did the 111 online check thing, which came up with 'call you GP today' but that's because I said I'd had abdominal pain persistently - it is very low though. Eurgh, seems so silly, I think I should probably just leave it. It's been preoccupying me for the last few days, wish I could stop noticing it!

If it’s is worrying you then I would call the gp.

bellagogosdead · 24/12/2020 11:47

It sounds similar to how I felt before my first gall bladder attack.

TheSilentStars · 24/12/2020 23:28

I have this exact same pain on and off, low level dull ache, Google of course says appendicitis Hmm but I've had it since about October. I'm having a scan on 21st Jan for possible gallbladder issues. I've had what I think are a few gallbladder attacks over last year or so but hadn't imagined lower right abdomen (out towards hip) would be connected.

BiarritzCrackers · 25/12/2020 12:14

I decided not to, but will be restrained about food and drink over the next few days. The pain went off for a bit, but came back in the last hour, lower inside of hip. I've been doing prodding - the more sensitive bit is higher up, centre section, adjacent to belly button, but out to the side.

I had been reading gallbladder stuff, did wonder about it, but thought not as symptoms are all so light. I've also developed hives in the last month, my lips swelled up a couple of times too. Wonder if it's all connected. I wish I could have a long sit down with a GP and talk through everything!

Does it hurt more when you let go or prod? If on letting go then GP asap as suggests grumbling appendix.

BiarritzCrackers · 25/12/2020 21:19

When I went to the loo, I had some very light bleeding, only the tiniest bit, but had the same on the 9th - both times in between other cycle events (period was 1st-6th, ovulation was around 14-15th). Maybe it's the right ovary doing something. So hard to work out what's going on!

OP posts:
BiarritzCrackers · 25/12/2020 21:26

No, not hurting more when I let go. I didn't know about that; useful to know!

The test is not whether it hurts more on letting go, but whether the act of letting go also causes pain.

You could try eating a very fatty meal - this is likely to bring on the pain if it’s gall stones.

Maze76 · 25/12/2020 23:09

I get this a week after my period, and I have fibroids.

TheSilentStars · 26/12/2020 09:15

I was about to say I've had no diarrhea with my similar symptoms but after last night I won't!
Two helpings of cream laden trifle probably not a good idea Sad
I'd give your GP a ring or ooh so they can see you hopefully at some point and maybe get you on a list if they think it's gallbladder. Hope you're feeling better today.

trollopolis · 26/12/2020 09:21

Do you really think MNetters are going to come up with a better suggestion than that?

TheSilentStars · 26/12/2020 10:38

It came up with that because of the symptoms being similar to appendicitis.

BiarritzCrackers · 26/12/2020 14:24

TheSilentStars sorry that you're not well today too; hope this afternoon feels better for you.

I had a bit more streaky blood, so have done the 111 online thing, and see what they say when someone calls.

How are you?

PencilFace · 29/12/2020 06:15

I have hab a similar pain on and off for a long time, mine is more of a pinching, stabbing pain..I do have IBS though so I assumed it's connected to that. Hopefully you are feeling better now.

TheSilentStars · 29/12/2020 07:20

How are you getting on @BiarritzCrackers? Did you manage to see a doctor?

MissMyPal · 29/12/2020 07:26

I've also had this pain on and off (mid cycle but not every cycle) for about 8 years now! I've had two ultrasounds in that time and they couldn't find a cause so put it down to probable endometriosis esp as (sorry TMI) it's v painful during (attempted and quickly abandoned) sex sometimes on the days it's grumbling away. No other symptoms though.

MissMyPal · 29/12/2020 07:27

(But I'd still advise getting your pain checked out)

BiarritzCrackers · 29/12/2020 10:22

Hello! So, it got really rather more painful on the Sunday, so had a good chat with the GP service at nearest hospital, going through 111. She thought from what I was saying that it was most likely to be ovary or colon related, or possibly a trapped nerve, and given that the pain wasn't excruciating and I could prod all around the area, she said they wouldn't be able to much for me there, and as I didn't have any alarming symptoms, to wait until GP is back open, or see if it goes away.

So, I will call them, but tomorrow, as I imagine they are going to be inundated this morning. I am so sure it is something to do with the reproductive system. Thanks for the advice and support, it made me less worried!

I had that once. My infection levels were sky high on blood tests but a&e could find no explanation. It seemed to go away on its own.

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 29/12/2020 14:01
