sorry to be such a pain everyone, I know I've posted about this on breast and bottle feeding so sorry to mention it again here but am absolutely desperate for more advice and thought more people may look at health than feeding. I am in tears now because pain is so bad, yes, I know I'ma wuss, but please how can i get rid of it without resorting to drugs or can't I?

MBK - it's horrible, isn't it. You will probably need to see the doctor, because if you are bf the baby may have thrush too. They can give the baby drops as well as treating you.

Oh, milkybarkid, you poor thing. I had that when ds was about 6 weeks old and it is excruciating - I really feel for you. You're not a wuss, btw, I was in tears every feed and ds latching on was pure agony.

You definitely need to see your doc (sorry if this is just repeating what has been said on other threads). I was given a cream which cleared it up within a couple of days - sorry can't remember the name. But you and baby will both need treating otherwise you'll just pass the infection back and forth when feeding.

Milkybarkid...can only echo what the others said; that is you need to get it treated by the doctors, both you and the baby. If not the thrush can get deep into the breast and it is a lot lot worse in that case. I had it, as did DD, and it's horrendous. The cream eased the pain within a couple of days though, and DD had medicine so we stopped re-infecting each other. HTH

Ooh, milkybarkid, this brings back excruciating memories. It is sooo painful I was in tears just anticipating the latch. My dd showed no signs of infection though so must have been quite deep? After a week of cream for me and drops for dd, the HV suggested Diflucan. Doctor prescribed it and it cleared it up really fast. No ill effects on dd and one happy mum. I know you don't really want to go for drugs but this may be the only route to pain free harmony! Hope it gets better very soon.
