Am I wasting a&e time?

Right so bare with me please it's a long one.
For the past 2 weeks I have been back and forth to different a&e for constant headaches & severe swelling in my face. I kept getting sent home and them saying 'come back if it gets worse' Saturday just gone I went back and they finally done some tests they done a brain scan and found swelling behind my left and sent me for a specialist and also said I had glandular fever. I am still waiting too see the eye specialist but my god I have never felt so ill. I have done a wee twice today and it's really dark brown, I can hardly swallow I haven't really eaten and my left side kills & I have slept pretty much all day I'm exhausted. Would you go back to a&e? I really feel like I'm pestering them and they are going to think 'oh not you again'. Am I better of just to stay at home?

I would, sounds pretty horrible. Have you tried nhs direct?

evenmoreforthemoor · 15/12/2020 18:42

My DD had GF last year. It can be horrendous.

No one here can give you advice and shouldn't really. Only you know how ill you feel.

I don't think you would be wasting A &E time at all with those symptoms though.

Good luck:

If you can hardly swallow and your pee is very dark you may be dehydrated and need a drip. I would ring 111 for advice.

simonisnotme · 15/12/2020 19:38

ring 111 you sound like your dehydrated can you take sips of water every few mins while you wait for help

Spaghettibetty345 · 15/12/2020 19:54

I would go back to a&e

GetOffYourHighHorse · 16/12/2020 10:05

What does your GP say? Try an econsult or ring 111. I'm sorry you feel ill but a&e is for accidents and emergencies.

Audreyseyebrows · 16/12/2020 10:21

You need to be seen.

Hope you feel better soon

Torvean32 · 16/12/2020 18:45

Do you live with somebody. Eating and drinking small amounts will help you.
If you've not been drinking then it's no surprise that you've only peed twice.

Mummyofbananas · 16/12/2020 21:01

I'd go back to A&E, sounds like you need to be put on a drip.##

Did they check your sinuses? My brother had awful headaches and swelling and kept getting sent home and it ended up being an awful sinus infection.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 16/12/2020 21:18

'I'd go back to A&E, sounds like you need to be put on a drip.##'

Do people seriously do this, pop to a&e for a check up?

Granted anything can deteriorate to the point of requiring emergency treatment but the first port of call is always the GP surgery for a phone or econsult, if none available you ring 111.

Mummyofbananas · 16/12/2020 21:40

My oh phoned 111 last month- was told to take pain killers- ended up going to a&e (after I had asked on here what to do in a bit of a panic) and it turned out he had very severe food poisoning and needed a drip so yes sometimes a&e is the best option!

She's also describing symptoms pointing to dehydration which would need treated- it's hardly just a check up.

thaegumathteth · 16/12/2020 23:22

Have you been drinking?
If you've drank plenty and your pee is dark that's more of a concern than if you haven't drank much.

Do you have a fever? What's your pulse rate? Personally I'd calll 111 and they can advise. I had to call them recently and they sent an ambulance and I was taken to a&e but I wasn't sure what to do so they were a first point of call.

I had GF years ago and was more ill then than when I had sepsis so it definitely can make you feel horrendous

Dizzywizz · 19/12/2020 07:29

How are you now @meganevie0406?

Howzaboutye · 19/12/2020 07:40

Yes go to a&e!

Have you seen a dentist?

Namenic · 19/12/2020 07:47

Go to a&e - the dark, small amounts of urine can mean dehydration and could be infection that needs antibiotics.

elldog6 · 19/12/2020 07:48

I had GF a couple of years ago. Absolute agony. Couldn't see an NHS GP for weeks so paid for a private GP. Confirmed GF but said there was nothing they could really do except take pain meds and wait it out so there's probably not much A&E can do which is why you keep going back and forth.

Can you call 111 for some advice?
