111?

Hi

I don’t know if this is the right place to post

What time does 111 start transferring calls to the out of hours doctor? I’m fairly confident I have a kidney infection (I don’t have a bladder, all urine infections go to my kidneys) & the receptionist won’t let me speak to a gp 😩🤢

Call them now.

I had a really bad UTI last Christmas Eve. The receptionist at my gp said they were close when I rang so I called 111. The practitioner who called me back got me an appointment with my GP within half an hour.

Good luck, I hope you feel better soon

Thanks. I thought I’d need to wait for OOH. I’ll give them a call & see what they say. Thought I’d just pulled my back/slept funny this morning.

I don't know about when they transfer to out of hours... but I want to send some love to you. I am just getting over a kidney infection that saw me admitted to hospital for morphine and IV antibiotics.

I had seen my GP and we thought I was passing a stone. Sent home with voltarol supps.
Later that night I was on my knees biting down on the duvet with the pain. Rang 111 who got a nurse to call me back 10 mins later. She called for an ambulance who turned up carrying gas and air which I needed just to get off the bed.
Had a CT scan which showed an area of inflammation around my kidney.
Home now and have finished the antibiotics. Pain is much reduced and I am weaning myself off the Codeine.

111 is gonna give my gp a kick up the bum. Hopefully.

Hope you get it sorted. They transfer stuff to OOH at 6pm in Wales but some of the nurses are happy to do what has happened with you and intervene with the gp.

Due to being very high risk with covid.. I’m home. I’ve got an ICU nurse at home, so I think that works In my favour. I’ve got very strict rules on when to go back & they’ll get in contact if my blood cultures grow anything. I’m back tomorrow for a scan.

I appreciate you’ve got better things to worry about right now, but when you have time it would be worth writing to your gp practice manager to explain what happened so they can make sure the receptionists act appropriately, especially given your pre existing conditions. I dont think the receptionist can just put you through to a gp but you certainly should have had a quick call back. FWIW I had a bog standard UTI this week, the receptionist messaged the gp and the gp prescribed my usual antibiotics without even talking to me (I have History).

I’ve got a note on my records to say I need seeing with urine infections. ASAP. This is the most irritating thing.

111 play safe at any time of day. You are more likely to get concrete help via them than trying to get past the dragon at the GP gate.

Hope you will be feeling better soon.
