I've never really had it before except a bit when pregnant. Haven't eaten anything since lunch time. Overdosed on gaviscon but not it's even touching the sides. Gone ro bed early because I feel so dreadful and yhe pain is bad. Is this normal? Folk go to a&e don't they? Thinking they're having a heart attack.

Call 111 for a proper clinical assessment. You have severe pain, you don't know it's "heartburn".

Pain in the upper abdomen/chest can be due to a variety of causes, some serious, others less so. Also, women often don't have the "classic" symptoms of heart attack.

No one here can tell you what it is - if they try to, I can guarantee they are not medically qualified.

Really, call 111, and if they decide you need A&E or an ambulance, then that is what you need.

Good luck Flowers

An ambulance for heartburn? Seriously? I get it all the time- rest with your head and chest raised and if it doesn't fade then call for advice, not an ambulance.

Thank you. The pain is bad but wouldn't say severe. But I will call if gets any worse. I won't be on here typing don't worry!

Head and chest raised thank you I've put another pillow behind me.

As I said:

No one here can tell you what it is - if they try to, I can guarantee they are not medically qualified.

111 will ASSESS THE SYMPTOMS and decide, based on the assessment, what is the best course of action.

Have you got any bicarbonate of soda? A teaspoon of that in a glass of water will gelp
