Advice required from anyone who has had a bowel resection...

Hi, its almost a year since I had emergency surgery for closed loop blockage of small intestine.
Generally recovered well but I feel that my stomach is now more sensitive, and is getting increasingly so.
I often have trapped wind and bloated feeling, and also more upper digestive indigestion.
I also have periods of feeling perfectly well which is why I haven't bothered the GP with it. It self resolves after a couple of days.
Has anyone else been through or experience similar? Is it just par for the course following this kind of surgery?
I would really, really appreciate any advice anybody may have.

I’ve had 6 or 7 bowel resections and have never experienced this. I wouldn’t say it’s par for the course. If it was me, I would definitely contact my GP. I hope you’re OK. After 12 months, you really shouldn’t be experiencing this.

I haven't had the same sort of surgery but I have had two abdominal surgeries, a splenectomy and a partial nephrectomy. In both cases I had ongoing issues with constipation and pain. Not all the time, it would come and go, but it was very annoying. Both of my consultants told me that any type of abdominal surgery cause adhesions and this can cause the pain and constipation issues. It's annoying!

Thanks. This issue was caused by adhesions in the first place, so I guess it makes sense they are still a bit of an issue. Its uncomfortable as opposed to painful. The consultant I had was lovely, wondering if its worth trying to see her privately.

It took a good year for my stomach to settle. Try drinking peppermint tea. I had my full colon removed.

sitdown your whole colon?! Gosh, that must have been horrible. And nomoreflowers, so many operations Shock, you poor thing. The thought of having to go through it again makes me shudder.
I guess its not surprising that my stomach is more sensitive. It definitely hasn't been the same since; just a general feeling, almost like the intestine is now more close to the surface if that makes sense, and slightly bruised?? I'm aware of its every move Grin
I actually just done a few sit ups. Core is non existent, its been such a strange year I've not addressed that at all.
Anyway, it feels fine today so who knows.... thanks for your responses.
