Hello, I just wanted to check I'm not going mad and this is not normal. My 7 year olds sons wee was really cloudy but when I left it it separated so there was normal clear wee on top and a layer of white material at the bottom. I dont remember seeing this before and cant find anyone talking about it on the internet. Has anyone had that?

It isnt bacteria making it cloudy because I tried a dip stick. Plus when I put some in a pot and added a few drops of vinigar it all went instantly clear which makes me think it is a mineral like calcium or phosphate or something. Does anyone have experience of that happening.

I took a sample to the drs but they just said it was negative for bacteria but so much white material cant be normal can it?

I remember this happening with my DS2, he had used a potty over night and didn't get to empty it until the morning and it had separated like you described. To be honest I didn't think anything of it really, just kind of thought 'that's weird', then carried on with my day! This was something like 3 years ago, he's still fine.

Thank you for that, was it just once? This has been half of his weeks for three days and I also remember seeing it cloidy in the toilet before but not thinking to check, I just though the toilet was dirty. So it might be happening all the time!

I'm pretty sure it happened more than once and even noticed white floaty things in it as well! He was well and not complaining about anything so didn't bother doing anything about it. It was so long ago now and nothing has happened as a result so I presume all is fine!

FWIW he was about 3 years old when I noticed it, he's 6 now.

Its probably crystals, I work in a microbiology lab and we do microscopy on some urine samples and can identify them. I'll be honest and say I'm not sure of the significance of them though, they don't always mean something is wrong though!

My ex had something similar to this (I say similar as I don't know if it would have settled at the bottom as we never left it to find out) and he eventually got diagnosed with T2 diabetes.

I'm not saying it's that, but just keep an eye on it, make sure he's well hydrated, and take him to the gp if it carries on :).

Thank you - yes I thought it might be crystals too, but cant find anyone talking about the amount you can see!

Thank you for the note about diabetes I read that somewhere too, but there Is no sugar in the in samples.
