I posted the other day freaking out about my husbands headaches (i have major health anxiety)

He has been getting daily headaches , behind his eye and temples , and sometimes in his jaw . he has had periods before where he has headaches for weeks at a time then they end. (usually spring time)

He had an eye tests last week which was all fine, he then spoke to the doctor the day after who said it sounded like a cluster headache, she said lack of sleep can contribute to this. He was told to take ibuprofen which helped a little. He has a really bad headache the other day which lasted about 15 minutes then went, yesterday he was fine then today again he had one and then it went after abut 20 minute.

He grinds his teeth at night, but TMJ headache is different to cluster headache , although the pain can be in similar places. I am freaking out that he has something seriously wrong. He doesn't have any other symptoms but i am seriously worried. He has phoned the doctor again this morning and is waiting for a call back

has anyone has similar experience with these headache's? someone please give me some advice (i am more worried than him )

I had this for 16 straight days until Friday. Mine are cluster headaches caused by clenching my teeth at night. I have to work on not clenching, and they go away. They feel awful but they’re nothing sinister. Not all teeth-clenching headaches are TMJ style!

The doctor is right that lack of sleep won’t help, and he’ll need to work on not grinding, whether that’s with a mouth guard or just teaching himself not to.

I had cluster headache for a short while, and I also have chronic migraine for which I have Botox.

They are the worst pain I've ever had, but they are over in under 30mins for me. Always at the same time of night, waking me from sleep. Bloody awful.

There are no preventative medicines for these, they tend to disappear as quickly and randomly as they come.

Oxygen apparently helps HUGELY as you use it during an attack and it goes much quicker. Sumatriptan as an injection apparently helps, but it may depend on how long the attacks last as to whether they're worth using.

Ultimately though, they are not an indication of anything else more sinister. Migraines and cluster headaches are sadly common but bloody awful for those of us who suffer them.

@HopeAndDriftWood

thank you for your reply, i think its a bit of a vicious cycle for my husband as we have a little boy who doesn't sleep well sometimes so when he gets disturbed sleep he gets headache, and then when he is in a deep sleep when our son sleeps well he grinds his teeth , yet again causing headaches !

He needs to see a dentist about a mouth guard. They don't work for everyone (I've chewed through two!), but for many they are an effective treatment for TMJ.
