Memory & concentration problems

I am only 32, but my short term memory is awful. I also really struggle to concentrate and find that I can be half way through a conversation and I think "what the hell are they on about" as I zone out all the time.

It was great until about 25, and has slowly got worse. I then developed epilepsy a couple of years back, and since then my memory and concentration has been horrific.

It's really starting to cause me problems as I can't remember conversations I've had a couple of days before, and everyone is always telling me that we've already had that conversation, and my partner gets really annoyed that he has to repeat himself all the time.

Does anyone have any advice? Has anyone taken any vitamins/tablets that have helped them with this issue? Maybe I should consider going to the doctors, but was hoping that maybe I'm just a bit dopey!

Are you on medication for epilepsy? There is one (no clue which) that patients need blood tests to check Vitamin D levels for. Low vitamin D (also low iron, B12/folate) can cause memory problems as can thyroid issues. It is definitely worth a chat to your Dr, it could be none of the above of course but worth checking.

Yes, I'm on lamotrigine for seizures.

I've just googled lamotrigine and memory problems, and turns out a lot of people seem to struggle with it taking that medication. Apparently the majority of epilepsy medication is the same. Urg. My poor brain. I will give the epilepsy nurse a call to discuss. Hopefully she has some suggestions.

Thank you :)

Or add

Oh wow, I googled ADD and have a lot of the symptoms. Maybe I should book an appointment with the docs then and let them try and sort me out!
