Wheezy

A few times lately I've ended up really wheezy after cleaning. The first two times were after using a carpet cleaner and I was really wheezy and felt like I couldn't catch my breath. Today I cleaned out the Hoover and the same thing has happened although a much more mild feeling compared to the first two times.

I'm wondering maybe if it's a dust allergy but not sure if it could actually be asthma. I always tell myself I'll call the doctors the next day but by then I feel better and end up putting it off until the next time (ie now!)

Has anyone been diagnosed with asthma as an adult? What is likely to be the process if I do call the doctor tomorrow?

Also the wheeziness today doesn't seem to bad but I do feel like I can't get a full breath in sometimes and as soon as I move about too much it gets worse.

When did it start?

I had a few days of really wheeziness. I was drinking lactose free milk and think this was the trigger. Anyway I took an antihistamine and voila no more wheeziness. Amazing. If it keeps coming up I'm going to keep a note of where it is in the monthly cycle (I was in the follicular phase). This somehow has an effect.

Can't hurt to speak to your GP.

Also worth taking vit D supplement. My chest is much better when I take this.

@londongirl12

When did it start?
I was wheezy back in March and that was the first I'd ever really experienced it. I ended up isolating at the time as I wasn't sure if it was potentially Covid as other family members had symptoms. Since then I don't feel my breathing has quite been right.

The two times with the carpet cleaner have been more recently - September maybe?

That's interesting about the monthly cycle - I wonder if there could be a link. I will maybe keep track of when it happens and what I've been doing as well in case there are any triggers other than dust. Haven't tried an antihistamine but that might be worth a try and will look into Vit D, thanks.

Does it happen after exercise? I was diagnosed with exercise induced asthma 4 years ago. I regularly do aerobic exercise and began to notice that I was struggling to take a full lungful of air if that makes sense? I had tests on the machines at the GPs and was diagnosed. I never get any wheeziness at any other time so I just take a couple of puffs of my preventer inhaler before exercising. Be aware though, travel insurance premiums will go up once you are diagnosed.

It seems to be triggered by the dust first and then after it's been triggered if I do any exercise or even try to move around too fast/ walk up or downstairs I get really short of breath. Just now I'm sitting down and feel like my breathing is OK again but I know as soon as I walk I'll end up short of breath again.
