Abdominal adhesions.

I had stoma surgery last year. All my scarring is above my bellybutton. For the last week or so, I’ve had awful awful heaviness & pulling in the same area I had a partial bowel obstruction a few months ago, likely to be down to adhesions. There’s times it almost feels like I’ve been booted in the belly. It doesn’t feel like another obstruction.

Those of you who have got known adhesions, what do they feel like if they’re causing pain? Is it worth getting in contact with my gp? I suspect not with covid & it not being an major issue, ie... unpleasant but not unmanageable at home.

I recently had a surgery to remove abdominal adhesion. When I had them I did not feel any pain because of adhesion but I had constipation, sometimes I felt numbness in my bowel and fiber (even very small amount) made me constipated , standing for long was a problem due to downward pressure and I felt pelvic congestion.
After my adhesion surgery all the symptoms above are gone but now I feel the pain specially where the adhesions were cut. But the pain is not deep , it just feels under the skin. Sometimes I ignore it, at other times I apply ibuprofen gel on it. It doesn't happen all the time.

You must contact the GP. Let them decide what the best response is. You've had serious surgery, you need serious care.

Good, I hope it clears up!

They’re trying to tell me it’s an inflamed stomach lining Hmm funny how I press my stoma & it makes me cramp the whole way up my belly. My stoma is below my bellybutton. I’ll give these omeprazole a few days then try speak to my actual gp if it hasn’t settled down.

Do you mean you have an active stoma or you had a stoma reversed? If the former, do you have a number for a specialist stoma nurse? I always found them the most helpful.

2 years on from reversal I still have all sorts of symptoms - dysfunction, painful scars, persistent discomfort and tenderness which feels like inflammation. I know I have adhesions but don’t know how much of this is attributable to them.

No answers I’m afraid, but I hope you get some relief soon.

This may seem very obvious- I'm only mentioning it just in case- how deep is your belly button? I actually had an infection in there. The only symptom was pain as I bent forward, particularly if I was wearing jeans. I was starting to worry, when I noticed my tummy button was damp. It was filled with pus deep inside Blush. I drained it and bathed with salt water a few times.

I have an active stoma for urine @LarkDescending.. I had similar following a bowel obstruction in September. I spoke to my stoma nurse about it at the time & she said if I get any pain like it again, to speak to my gp.

No bellybutton gaminess which I’ve seen @picklemewalnuts. I work in theatres/operating room normally & have seen my fair share of nasty bellybuttons so take particular attention to washing it in the bath Grin
