Jaw/Tooth/Mouth pain after exercise? Any insight?

For years I have had this strange reaction after I exercise but particularly in cold weather. It can be after a gym or swim session followed by a walk home in cold weather. But it can also be after just a walk in the cold.

What happens is when I get home and start to warm up I start to get a pain in all my teeth. I think it is coming from my jaw. It improves if I bite down on something and gradually eases and disappears. I mentioned it to a number of dentists but they can't explain it.

Today I went for a walk for 1.5 hours in chilly weather and I have been in pain for a couple of hours. Easing now and almost gone but it was very bad. Massaging my jaw seems to help.

It feels like some type of nerve pain but no idea.

Has anybody got any ideas what it might be and weather a GP is a route to explore. Thanks

Discuss with GP. Could be angina?

My dad had angina. Will have a look at that. Thanks.

Could be TMD I suffer terribly in the colder weather with it and just walking in the cold each step causes pain in my jaw. I have to wrap up and use a hot water bottle when I'm back to warm the joints up.

Are you clenching your jaw while exercising?

jewel1968 · 15/11/2020 21:09

Don't think I am clenching my jaw. Will Google TMD. Thanks

I think my dentist checked for TMD but having read about it I think it is a candidate. I do grind my teeth at night which is a contributor.

Hmmm. Not sure what to do if at least 3 different dentists say they can't explain it. Will try GP I think.

Mine was only properly diagnosed when my jaw locked and I couldn't open my mouth properly to eat. I had to have an op where they manipulated my jaw and flushed the joints. Dentist gave me a retainer which I hated so do simple stretching exercises.
Mine goes quite clicky at times and has been much worse this year due to everything going on. You may find that you actually clench your jaw more than you think you do.

Lord knows I am stressed. I could be clenching more than I think. Thanks.

Could be linked to your sinuses or others have said could be a sign of TMJ.
Unlikely but could be something to trigeminal nerve.

Sounds like it could be angina to me too.
