It's usually down to iron deficiency you need iron tablets.

trumpisaflump · 15/11/2020 12:15

It might be angular cheilitis. Anti fungal cream might help. Worth a try

noseresearch · 15/11/2020 12:15

Could it be angular cheilitis?
If so the cracks may be bacterial / fungal

Thank you all...can i buy anti fungal cream over the counter?

Yes. It's daktarin and similar.

Mine are caused by iron deficiency and sometimes flare up with cold weather and the weather changing. I find Vaseline helps.

I’ve had this quite a few times, despite using lip balms, all different types, all the time.
What got rid of mine was actually putting diprobase onto my lips, and the corners of my mouth. It literally cured it.Now I never use anything on my lips and mouth corners to moisturise them, other than diprobase.
It’s great.

Go and speak to a pharmacist who should be able to tell you what is causing it and what treatment. For my son it was a vit deficiency (can't remember which one now).

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 17/11/2020 12:09

@Kolo - gosh how many sons do you have? Grin

Plussizejumpsuit · 17/11/2020 12:14

I had this in both corners. Unusual for me
I readabout the fungus thing and popped a bit of canesten I had on it a few times overnight and it went away. However I have had iron deficiency issues in the past so I might get that checked out.

I get this every few months, and found hand gel works to stop it getting worse.

PastelPompoms · 19/11/2020 04:24

I had this last year and it was really painful. Blistex (white tube, red lid) sorted it within 24 hours.

GlennRheeismyfavourite · 19/11/2020 04:29

When I had this the dentist said I needed anti-fungal cream

tillytown · 19/11/2020 05:15

If you are more tired than usual, and have been having sore/blurry/dry eyes, it's a vitamin B deficiency

Irre247 · 19/11/2020 06:39

Another vote for Daktarin oral gel- the pharmacist will sort you out.

Haha just seen this. 😂

Glitterblue · 26/11/2020 10:32

My daughter had this last year when she was very run down after a virus and the pharmacist recommended Carmex, the one in the yellow tube with the red lid. It cleared it up within 24 hours.

Gingaaarghpussy · 26/11/2020 11:14

Just out of curiosity do all of the recommendations have some form of paraffin in them? I'm allergic to white soft paraffin, so most creams are out, I can't even use savlon Sad.
When I've had this issue I've used coconut based creams.
